2025 has been a year of Generosity for Highlands! Below, you can learn more about the eight organizations that have received support from our congregation this year.
$12,000 to Iglutheca (Pine Ridge, SD) in direct support for Lakota's experiencing homelessness and addiction
$7,500 to the BirdSeed Collective (Denver, CO) to support their Community Food Program
$7,000 to the Christ the Servant Lutheran Church(Louisville, CO) Refugee Resettlement Support. You can read about Ali Ahmadi and his family here, as CTS has worked to support his legal process and family as they resettle here in Colorado. In October, Ali was taken by ICE, despite his legally protected status and held in an ICE detention facility in Missouri for 50 days.
$5,000 to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless Native American Services (Denver, CO) in support of their cultural programming for unhoused Native and Indigenous community members.
$4,000 to Young Adults in Global Mission - ELCA as missionary support for Micah Hobart. Link in the comments to read more about his experience.
$5,000 to Bienvenidos Food Bank (Denver, CO) as emergency funding due to disruptions in SNAP distributions.
$1,500 in direct support of an unhoused neighbor of ours in need of car repairs.
$500 to Holy Cross’ (and our!) Blessing Box/Free Little Pantry to purchase food during the disruptions to SNAP benefits
And we aren't done yet!
