🥳 Help us give it up for Arlington High’s Missy Jenkins! She's been named the Air & Space Forces Association's Teacher of the Year – at both the chapter and STATE level! The state-wide award is given to one teacher each year for their outstanding leadership and work in STEM education.

In her BioSTEM and STEM courses at AHS, Ms. Jenkins creates hands-on experiences that bring learning to life and open doors for students across a wide range of careers. From designing and testing catapults to understand physics to using CAD software and flying drones to explore aviation, her students are constantly applying their knowledge in real, meaningful ways.

She also makes it a priority to connect students with professionals in the field. Whether it’s bringing in a St. Jude scientist to teach CRISPR gene-editing technology or exposing students to aerospace pathways, her classroom is a launchpad for future opportunities.

They tackle real-world challenges like Mars missions, compete in STEM engineering events and build the technical and communication skills they’ll need for what’s next – all while learning to collaborate, think critically and lead.

Because of her influence, students are discovering where STEM can take them. Congratulations, Ms. Jenkins!
