1. The Hebrew people immigrated to Egypt when there was a famine in their own land. They were initially invited by Joseph, who was in charge of the grain.
2. Many centuries went by when Joseph’s name had been forgotten. The Hebrews became slaves and were treated badly.
3. The Hebrews were also reproducing at a rapid rate. The king ordered all the Hebrew baby boys to be killed. He was afraid of their numbers and that they would start a revolt.
4. It was under these conditions when Moses was born.
5. READ: Exodus 2:1-10
6. After Moses had grown up, he left the palace and went to where his own people were living and working. He killed one of the slave-masters.
7. Moses escaped and went to the land of Midian. He married the daughter of the priest, Jethro, there. He functioned as a shepherd.
8. Story of the burning bush – God had come down to rescue his people. “I Am” sent you.
9. God makes an agreement – Moses’ brother, Aaron, will do the talking. Moses will do the actions of the ten plagues.
10. Moses and Aaron demand (to the king) – “Let my people go.”
11. The Nile River turns to blood; frogs; gnats; flies; dead animals; sores; hailstones, locusts; darkness; death of the first born son s and males of animals.
12. The Passover
13. The people escape and cross the Red Sea. The parting of the sea by Moses holding his walking stick over it. It closed when the Egyptians got there.
14. Mana from heaven and water from a rock.
15. Jethro visits Moses – tells him to delegate
16. Moses goes up to Mt. Sinai to meet with God – the Ten Commandments.
17. The people down below grow restless. They ask Aaron to make a golden calf.
18. READ: Exodus 32:1-4
19. Moses smashes the tablets out of anger. He eventually goes back up the mountain and gets new tablets on which God has written.
20. Moses argues with God.
21. Moses can’t lead the people to the Promise Land – his sidekick, Joshua did

A. Concept
The New Birth or to be Born Again is a deep and supernatural spiritual life transformation in which God gives a person Eternal Life and makes them part of his family.

B. Biblical origin and meaning

It comes from the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus in the Gospel of John 3:1-8. To be born again means that it is a work that comes from God and not from human effort.
It is spiritual regeneration by the work of the Holy Spirit.

C. Main features

1.- It is a gift from God's grace through Faith in Jesus Christ.
2.- It is transformative because it implies a change of heart, of mentality and direction of life to love Jesus Christ.
3. It is New Creation because it passes from death to spiritual life to be a new creature. Ephesians 2:1 and 2 Corinthians 5:17.

D. Final Reflection

The New Birth is Fundamental to Enter the Kingdom of God and inherit the Eternal Life. The Blessed Repentance Brings About the new birth to enter and see the Kingdom of God

1. If you think Jacob was flawed, just wait to hear about his offspring.
2. Joseph was Jacob’s favorite child. He even made a fancy coat just for him. I think that he was Dad’s favorite because he was the child of his wife, Rachel.
3. His wife, Leah, the older sister of Rachel kept on popping out babies in hope that he would love her.
4. Jacob sent out Joseph to spy on his brothers. Not only would he get them in trouble, but he would also brag about his dreams.

6. The most shocking story is about the r**e of Dinah – a very beautiful young woman.

8. Shechem asked Jacob to marry his daughter.
9. READ: Genesis 34:8-12
10. Jacob’s sons wanted to get even with Shechem, so they told him that he and his people would first have to be circumcised if they wanted to marry their people. Every grown man agreed.

12. Jacob’s reaction was interesting. He didn’t condemn the brutality of their act, he was worried that his neighbors would attack
him.
13. Jacob asks Joseph to check up on his brothers and find out how they are tending the sheep. He asks Joseph to come back with a report.
14. The brothers made plans to kill him.

16. After the brothers sold Joseph to the caravan traders, they killed a goat and put the blood on the fancy goat. They told their father that Joseph had been killed by a wild animal

A. Concept Biblical
Redemption means to "buy again," to redeem, or to set free someone from slavery, sin, or debt through payment of a price.
B. Meaning in the Old Testament
1. The Ransom was used for the liberation of slaves, the firstborn, or the recovery of lost family lands.
2. The kinsman redeemer, (Goel) was a close relative with the legal and moral obligation to pay the debt or rescue his impoverished relative. Example: Book of Ruth 3:12-13.
3. God was called the "Redeemer of Israel" because He delivered His people from the slavery of Egypt.
4. There are two Hebrew words: "Gaal" is to rescue and claim and "Padah" which is to release by substitution or payment.
C. Meaning in the New Testament
1. The Redemption is the work of Jesus Christ, who represents the ransom of mankind who were enslaved to sin, and He paid the price of this freedom on the cross of Calvary.
2. The shed blood of Jesus Christ is the price paid.
D. Benefits of Redemption
1. Forgiveness of sins. Ephesians 1:7
2. Justification before God. Romans 5:8-9
3. Eternal life. Revelation 5:9-10
4. Adoption. Galatians 4:4-5
E. Final Reflection
Jesus Christ is the Unique and Exclusive Spiritual Redeemer of the Sacred Scripture. 1 Timothy 2:5-6.

1. As you will soon see, Jacob and his family members were a bunch of con artists. Very imperfect
2. It started at birth.
3. READ: Genesis 25:19-26
4. I get the impression that Jacob and his brother, Esau, were very different.
5. READ: Genesis 25:27-34
6. Rebekah cons Jacob into pretending that he is his brother, Esau.
7. Jacob gets his father’s blessing.
8. When Esau finds out what Jacob has done, he wants to kill him. Jacob has a strong feeling that he needs to get far out of town.
9. Rebekah tells Jacob to go to her brother, Laban’s place in Haran.
10. Jacob had a dream of seeing a ladder that reached from earth to heaven. In this dream God told him that he would be given the land on which he was sleeping.
11. When Jacob reaches Uncle Laban’s place, he immediately falls in love with Laban’s daughter Rachel who was petite.
12. Laban does a switcheroo with his older and much bigger daughter, Leah. When Jacob wakes up the next morning, he discovers that he has been cheated. I wonder what he had been drinking.
13. I love Laban’s excuse. Jacob works for Laban for an additional seven years. Then he gets to marry Rachel.
14. Rachel was popping out babies and Rachel was baren for a long time. Then she finally had Joseph who turned out to be a snitch on his brothers. When Joseph was a teenager, his mother, Rachel gave birth to Benjamin. She died in childbirth. Jacob also had children with both Leah and Rachel’s maid servants. I think he had about 11 children.
15. After a while, Jacob and his family run away from Laban and take all of their belongings. He tricked Laban by not telling him that he intended to leave.
16. Jacob finally meets up with his brother, Esau.
17. Jacob’s name is changed to Israel.

A. Concept
Loving the neighbor is the second most important commandment in the Holy Scriptures. The first is to love God above all things. Loving one's neighbor is not a simple feeling of affection or sympathy. It is a concrete action of service, compassion, and empathy toward any human being in need.

B. Biblical Foundations in the Old Testament
1. The book of Leviticus 19:18 forbids any vengeance or grudge against a person, and commands you to love the neighbor as yourself.
2. The book of Psalms 103:9 which affirms that God by his mercy does not contend or keep anger.
3. The book of Deuteronomy 6:5 proclaims the love of God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength
C. Biblical Foundations in the New Testament
1. The book of Matthew 22:34:39 where Jesus reveals that the first and great commandment of the Law is: Love God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. And the second great commandment is similar: You shall love your own neighbor as yourself.
2. The book of Romans 13:8-10, where the Apostle Paul affirms that loving the neighbor is the fulfillment of all the laws and commandments of the Christian Faith.
D. Characteristics of loving the neighbor
1. It is practical and active. Because it does not stay only in words. It is selfless
2. It must have no limits. We must love even our enemies. Matthew 5:43-48.
3. Treat others as you wish to be treated. Matthew 7:12
4. Jesus teaches the parable of the Good Samaritan to demonstrate the truthful love for the neighbor. Luke 10:29-37
E. Final Thoughts
It is impossible to love God if we do not love our neighbor. Whoever loves God must love her/his brother. Love of neighbor is fundamental to fulfilling all the commandments of the Holy Scriptures. 1John 4:20-21 and Galatians 5:14.

1. God promised Abraham that he would have a lot of descendants.
2. There was a problem – his wife, Sarah never got pregnant. Now she was too old.
3. Sarah convinced her husband to sleep with their Egyptian slave,
Hagar. She had a son named Ishmael. Sarah became very jealous of them. She told Abraham to send them away. He complied.
4. Sarah gets pregnant on her old age – she was described as being post-menopausal. Back in those days, a woman’s worth was achieved through having lots of children.
5. When Sarah was 127 years old she died.
6. Isaac was a mama’s boy and moped for a long time after his mother’s death.
7. Abraham was getting tired of this, so he gave instructions to his most trusted servant.
8. READ: Genesis 24:1-4

10. The servant goes to the well where the women fetch the water.
11. READ: Genesis 24:12-14
12. Rebakah – daughter of Betuel, the son of Abraham’s brother Nahor
13. Rebekah passed the test – “Let’s ask Rebekah what she wants to do.” She told them that she was willing to go with the servant and his men back to where Abraham and his son Isaac were living.
