Bethany Lutheran Church Bethany is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Mary, Martha, and Lazarus were like family to Jesus… and he loved them like family.

In Jesus’s time on earth, Bethany was a town just outside of Jerusalem, where some of his closest friends lived. To all who need comfort, to all who seek friendship, to all who sin and need to be gathered to the Savior, Bethany opens wide its doors and in the name of Jesus says, "Welcome!"

You and your family are welcome to join us after the service on Sunday mornings at 10:15 am for Family Bible Study Hour starting Sunday September 13th.

We are trying something new this year to encourage more multi-generational connection, so we are combining the opening Sunday School Bible Story with the first 10 minutes or so of Sunday Studies. Bring your children to the lower-level fellowship hall, where we would love to have you stay for the Bible Story and then Sunday Studies. Children will meet in the lower-level classrooms for the rest of Sunday School (6th-8th grade meet upstairs).

You can register your child for Sunday School via the sign-up sheet in the Welcome Area.

We look forward to enjoying this time of fellowship and Bible Study with you!

As we continue learning “Unexpected Truths” from our Lord Jesus, this week we see that the cross comes before the crown. Some churches teach if a person follows God, God responds by granting prosperity and peace, as would only be expected. But this week we'll learn how the truth is in fact quite different from that. The Bible explains that as part of the Church of God, we will have crosses to bear. Believers at times suffer in this world, sometimes just because they are believers. And yet we carry our crosses in gratitude for Jesus carrying his cross. One that was too heavy for us to carry, because it was the weight of our sin. This is our unexpected truth and path as Christians, the one that Jesus himself walked; with the cross coming before the crown.

Do you like gardening? Do you like volunteering? Then this post of for you! Weather permitting, we will be having a Planting Project Day on Saturday August 29th beginning at 9:00AM. We have 30 trees and shrubs to plant around the church. We could use at least 10 volunteers with gloves and a shovel to finish this project in a few hours.

Please let Judy Priebe know if you plan to help so that we can notify you of a date or time change due to inclement weather. Thanks for your help!

This week many of our area synod schools and high school return for a new year followed next week by our public schools. We ask Gods blessings on both teachers and students as they teach, learn, and grow this school year:

Gracious and loving Father, we give you thanks for the gift of another school year, both in our public schools and our Lutheran elementary and high schools. As teachers and students begin their work together, bless them with patience, wisdom, diligence, and joy. Give teachers strength to teach faithfully and students eagerness to learn. Protect them as they travel to and from school, and keep our schools safe from harm. Above all, help our teachers and students grow in their knowledge of your Word and in their love for their Savior, Jesus Christ. May our congregations' schools be places where your truth is taught, Christian love is shown, and lives are shaped by your grace.
