In today's sermon, Pastor James Wychers continued our series, Life in the Kingdom of God, with a message from Matthew 6:1-6, 16-18 titled "The Heart of Hypocrisy."

He reminded us that God isn't impressed by outward performance, giving, praying, or fasting done to be seen. True faith flows from a heart he's changed, not a show we put on. Pastor James shared honestly from his own story of growing up faking it on the outside, and pointed us to Christ, who gives us his righteousness because we could never earn our own.

Hypocrisy has a funny way of hiding in plain sight, especially when it comes to how we practice our faith. It's easy to do the right things for the wrong reasons, or to let our giving, our prayers, our fasting become more about being seen than about actually drawing near to God. So how do we tell the difference between genuine devotion and performance? And what does it look like to practice our faith quietly, even when no one's watching?
