God hears when we pray. We can thank Him daily for His blessings. We can confess our sins to Him. We can tell Him about the things that cause us worry or anxiety. We can praise Him for the excellence of His creation, praise Him for the excellence of His Word, and ask Him to shape our character.

The Lord overcomes our enemies. Who are our enemies? Your enemy might be depression, or debt, or addiction, or temptation, or stress, or busyness, or loneliness, or isolation, or insomnia. Whatever your enemy is, Jesus will help you endure, and eventually prevail.

The reality is this: none of us, no human being, can get herself or himself into heaven. It's not even close; it's impossible. Jesus tells us not to worry about it. He's got connections; He paid the price for us to get in; He'll take care of us. He tells us that we don't have to stress about that. Do you sometimes wonder if you're good enough? The answer is easy: you're not. But Jesus will get you in. Jesus is your powerful friend. He's got it fixed. That's why we don't have to be anxious about the next life.

Jesus paid a price so that we can be free. We don't have to be slaves to sin. Now we freely serve God by serving our neighbor.

God is reliable. But sometimes it seems like He's not there. When we are enduring suffering, it can seem as if God is silent and distant. The prophet Hosea tells us that God is reliable to show up on His schedule, not on ours. The sun rises, but only in the morning. The rains come, but only in the springtime. God is always there, but He acts powerfully and decisively according to His timetable. As the hymn says:

You can’t hurry God.
You just have to wait.
You have to trust Him and give Him time, child,
No matter how long it takes.
You know, He’s a God you can’t hurry.
He'll be there, don’t worry.
He may not come when you want Him,
But He’s right on time.
