Countdown to our 95th Anniversary on 11-1-26 at 10 am
This past Sunday 9-6 we honored our 2nd Pastor

Pastor Bushmann, 1940 – 1943 – 2nd Pastor

In January of 1940, the Reverend Theodore H, Bushmann of the Metropolitan Inner Mission Society became the second Pastor of St. Paul’s. During Pastor Bushmann’s time with us there was continued growth of our membership. Some of this growth could be attributed to his visitation of all the families of the congregation within his first year. In the short three plus years 85 new members joined the church. He baptized 73 children, confirmed 58 young adults and married 35 couples.
He officiated at a few special events including the 10th Anniversary Service on October 27, 1940, to which over 200 attended, the dedication of the Church House, the house that is attached to the church, on December 10, 1941 which was moved from the school grounds across the street, and with the start of World War Two, the establishing in the Messenger of “News From Our Servicemen”, a way for the congregation to stay in touch with our servicemen. Although Pastor Bushmann’s tenure with St. Paul’s was short, he was still a man of God conducting himself to the best of his abilities. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, he took leave of St. Paul’s in February of 1943.

Countdown to our 95th Anniversary on 11-1-26 at 10 am
This past Sunday 8-30 we honored our 1st Pastor

Pastor Brunn 1930- 1939
On November 22, 1931, the congregation dedicated the completed church to the Lord. The church was filled to capacity as well as the hall below where the service was carried by means of an amplification system.
Pastor Brunn had been serving the congregation as a mission, realizing it was time for St. Paul's to have its own pastor. The congregation called Pastor Brunn to fill the position. They were pleased that he accepted the call and would now devote full-time to the Amityville Parish and he was installed December 11, 1932.

Pastor Brunn had served at Saint Paul's for nearly 10 years when he asked to be released by the congregation to accept the call to become pastor of Saint Andrews Lutheran Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pastor Brunn had been a constructively demanding disciple of the Lord he had taken a proposal of a Lutheran Church in Amityville and guided a band of believers through their endeavors that successfully built a firm foundation and secured the future of a congregation devoted to the work and the glory of God. He had the love and devotion of a grateful congregation. It was with great sadness that on December 31, 1939, they bid goodbye to their first Pastor. Later Pastor Brunn served as president of the Eastern District, Missouri Synod.

Saint Paul celebrated its 25th anniversary at a special service that was held at the American Legion hall on October 23, 1955 with the Reverend August Brunn, St. Paul's First Pastor as guest preacher.
Following the service more than 500 people attended the banquet at the American Legion hall.
