St. Francis Community of Faith for All People, A Sanctuary of Spirituality

St. Francis Community of Faith for All People, A Sanctuary of Spirituality The only cost of being a member is to have a desire to deepen one’s sense of spiritual wellness with the Indwelling of the Spirit. In the spirit of St.

St Francis Community of Faith for All People is an alternative Catholic faith community open to all We seek to provide an opportunity for all people to experience the divine presence in their lives and to share that life force with all people. Our Community is a Catholic, all inclusive faith community who seeks to provide its members and the community of Long Island a place to develop their perso

nal relationship with Jesus while deepening their faith with acts of charity to those less fortunate the poor, elderly, sick, imprisoned, those suffering from addiction and mental health concerns. We choose to express our Catholic faith and traditions which have been passed down from generation to generation through Baptism and Apostolic Succession, of its bishop, for we see in a rich tradition of Word and Sacrament the essence of the life and message of Jesus Christ, to love all people and the Divine as we love our self. Those who come will find safety in the sanctuary of spirituality which they may call their spiritual home. The community of faith will provide food and clothing to the poor. Francis, we will own nothing and give all proceeds which are given to the community to those who are in need from the elderly who have no one to listen and comfort them to the child who is suffering from illness and needs a shoulder to cry on. Our only desire is to serve all those who the Divine sends our way who have become disenfranchised by their faith communities or society at large. All will be welcome regardless of who they choose to love and marry and how they live out their life. No one will be rejected from the sanctuary of spirituality we choose to call our Catholic Community. We are a 501(c)(3) and all donations are tax deductible.

Come join us tomorrow morning as we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi at 10 am on Zoom. The zoom link can be found on our website www.cfapli.net the Saturday vigil Sunday Mass page.
On this beautiful feast of the body and blood of Christ we are reminded of how much Jesus loved us by laying down his life for us. He showed us how we need to live in peace, love and unity. We are reminded that we like the Eucharist are one body nourishing us for our journey of love.
When we eat the body of Christ and drink his blood we profess that we too will live a life of love and justice for all. There is no division in the Eucharist so too in our actions and love.
All are welcome to join us and share in the Word and Eucharist.

As a progressive independent Catholic faith community it has not been easy to maintain our theology rooted in the Acts of the Apostles and the early church who were inclusive and welcomed everyone before the rules and hopes were created.
We still welcome all who are seeking a deeper relationship with the Divine and a place to learn about scripture and the sacraments the essential roots of our universal catholic faith.
Visit our website www.cfapli.net for more information.
Thank you for your likes and shares we truly appreciate you

George Floyd was murdered 6 years ago today.

The icon “Mama” was painted after the death of Floyd in 2020. Many people asked whether the man in the icon was “George Floyd or Jesus?” The answer to that question is “yes”. This dualistic question ( either/or) is fine for the simplification of conversation but not for the sake of the truth. It is Christ, but as St. Teresa of Calcutta said it is also “Christ in distressing disguise.” In Matthews Gospel Jesus tells us he is to be found in those who suffer, just as George Floyd did.

These terrible acts are done in complete hatred and denial of the sacredness of every person. To dismiss the image of God in anyone is a complete denial of the incarnation.

We bear witness to Christ present in all of the crucified people of history. Looking into the eyes of mothers who are continually losing their sons and daughters to this violence and hatred. As American Christians we must stand against the ongoing abuse of police brutality and white supremacy.

Thoughts and prayers are not enough. We hope this image can continue to move us toward action and change.

Hopefully, we won’t be like Peter sitting by the fire, the rooster crowing, and instead of standing with Christ in his suffering and having the hard conversations, we instead run away and act like they don’t exist.

“Mama” is currently installed at Holy Commuion Episcopal Church in St. Louis, Mo.

Let us remember those who have lost their lives and those who suffer physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. PTSD is often a common symptom of those who have experienced the horrors of war.
It is important to support our armed forces and encourage them who need it to seek help for the wounds which often cannot be seen.
Let us not forget the families, spouses and partners of those who have a loved one lost or disabled in war. Often times families are affected by the tragedies of the memories of those who serve.
War for the sake of freeing those who cannot protect themselves or protecting ourselves from those who have acted in hatred toward us is understandable..
Let us pray and work for peace and justice and use our analytical judgment before supporting violence toward others.
