Alto-Reste Park

Alto-Reste Park Pennsylvania's Most Beautiful Burial Estate In 1925, Robert P. Good’s vision of creating a modern cemetery in a beautiful park-like setting became reality. Mr.

Good carefully planned the site of Alto-Reste Park so that “the remains of the departed would rest a midst scenes of cultured beauty in harmony with the environments.” With great forethought and attention to detail, he purchased over 350 acres for the purpose of creating one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the state of Pennsylvania. He even traveled to Carrero, Italy to oversee the constructi

on of marble features, which still grace the cemetery today. Alto-Reste Park was the first cemetery to include perpetual care, a concept Mr. Good wholeheartedly endorsed and helped push into Pennsylvania cemetery law. He strongly felt that funds should be set aside for the care, maintenance, and preservation of the lots, buildings, and grounds. In keeping with the visionary founder’s wishes, Alto-Reste Park Cemetery is to this day perpetually maintained and carefully developed.

As many of you know, we host an annual Memorial Day service to remember and honor those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. While our founder, R.P. Good, played an instrumental role in our first documented Memorial Day Service in 1929, it wasn’t until May of 1989 that we hosted the service in the Garden of Honor.

We hope to see you at our 2026 Memorial Day Service on Sunday, May 24th. Please visit www.alto-reste.com/memorial-day-service/ to learn more!

The Garden of Ascension, located at the top of the Park, is filled with blossoming flowers that follow you up the walkway to a structure etched with the image of Jesus. The Ascension of Jesus Christ is the teaching that Jesus was taken up to Heaven in His resurrected body 40 days after his resurrection. Christ gave His heart during His earthly ministry and His life to save us. This garden truly encompasses the feeling of the Lord’s love for us.

In April of 1994, construction of our current office building and chapel was completed. The decision to construct a new building resulted from moving the original entrance to the Park to coincide with development plans on Plank Road at that time. The original office and chapel, shown in the first image, was constructed in 1961 and dedicated to our founder, R.P. Good, in 1962.
