~Thriving In The In-Between-Finding Purpose In The Waiting-Devotional By Edward Munene/Lifession Publishing
~Holy Bible App

Key Thought: God is intentional with every step, every pause, and every delay in our lives.

Most of us love progress, momentum, and visible movement. We like clear answers, quick breakthroughs, and straight paths, yet Scripture repeatedly shows us that God is not in a hurry, and He is never careless. Sometimes, the path God chooses for us feels unnecessarily long, even frustrating, but the Bible makes it very clear for us, God led Israel away from the shortest route. It was not because God did not have Google Maps or some other way of telling directions, but because He understood their capacity.

God knew that speed without preparation and strength would crush them, and therefore what looked like delay was actually God protecting and preparing them; what felt like a detour was His wisdom at work on their behalf.

The in-between seasons are those moments where the road ahead is unclear, the past feels distant, and the future seems uncertain. Such seasons often challenge our assumptions about success and timing. You look around and wonder why others seem to be advancing while you feel stationary. You question why your doors seem to remain closed when you have been faithful, prayerful, and obedient. Yet Scripture reminds us that God directs our steps, not just our destinations. If He has allowed you to come here, to stand here, then here matters more than you realize.

I learned this personally during what I assumed would be a wasted twenty-hour layover on a long flight home. What felt like an interruption became a place of learning and growing, a place where God slowed my pace, sharpened my perspective, and reminded me that even in the pause moments of life, when we do not seem to be moving on, God is still working and using stillness to clarify His calling and purpose in our lives.

The real tension of the in-between is not whether God is present. I can assure you that He is present. The deeper question is whether we trust Him enough to learn before He moves us forward.

God cares more about who you are becoming than how fast you are moving.
God often slows our pace to strengthen us, and you need to believe that if God led you here, then this season is doing something in you.

Reflection Questions:

Where do you sense God has intentionally slowed your pace recently?

What might God be developing in you that speed would have damaged?

Prayer

Father, help me trust Your leadership even when the road feels longer than I expected. Give me eyes to see your purpose in this season and the grace to learn what You are teaching me here. I choose to walk with You, and not walk ahead of You. Amen.

Call To Daily Commitment:

Today, I choose to trust God over the pressures of life and choose obedience over the urgency of daily living.
