‼️EXCITING NEWS‼️
A new camp is coming to CENLA! We are thrilled to finally announce the launch of
“CAMP LIGHTHOUSE”, as a partnership with Calvary Baptist Church, Alexandria, LA.
Camp Lighthouse is a week-long summer camp that promotes inclusion for children with special needs and neurotypical children ages 5–12 (must have completed kindergarten). It is a welcoming place where children of all abilities come together to build friendships, inspire one another, and create meaningful experiences. The camp also provides much-needed respite for parents, guardians, and caregivers, as opportunities for inclusive camps like this are often very limited for families with special needs.
Our team (100% composed of volunteers) will be under the guidance of Board Certified Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Certified Nurses- who have combined over 30 years of experience. Having these therapists and nurses at the core of the team will ensure that any/all needs will be met for each child, whether it be assisted feedings, med distribution, transfers or any other activities of daily living, while attending our camp. These therapists will be assisting the remaining volunteers to guide their new friends through organized art, play and sports activities throughout the week long camp.
Camp Lighthouse mission statement is: SHINING LIGHT ON INCLUSION.
It is so important to expose children to others who are different than them. Differences make us who we are and if we can encourage just ONE person to step out and embrace or include someone who is “different” than them, then we have achieved that mission.

‼️REGISTRATION WILL OPEN ON MONDAY, MAY 11th AND CLOSE MAY 15 (Or until spots are filled). We will be posting link for registration May 11 and you can find it here on our page.

Times: 8am-2pm
If you have a teenager who is looking for volunteer opportunities, this is a wonderful opportunity for them! We will be posting more details next week for those that want to apply to be a volunteer.
