Del Ray United Methodist Church

It was a big day in our Del Ray community! Following the 30th Del Ray Halloween Parade, we welcomed the crowd to our church for 2026 Fall Festival (Trunk or Treat) for extra fun!
We had trunks full of candy and toys, music by The Alexandria Citizens Band, lawn games (the axe throwing was a hit!), and a petting zoo. We were so happy to have this opportunity to meet and serve all the families in our community! Thank you to everyone who joined us today!

October e-Newsletter:
Family Worship, Fall Festival, NEW Bell Choir and More!

Last Sunday, we began a new six-week sermon series, “Face to Face.” Each week, we look at one part of God’s holy character. And each week, we ask a simple question: How does meeting this God change the way I live?

We met lots of people (despite the rain all day) at our church booth in the Kids Art Corner at the 31st Del Ray Art on the Avenue event on October 3! We were the only church congregation hosting a booth (feeling proud of our presence!). Thank you so much to all the volunteers who prepared and hosted the booth and welcomed all the children and their families with kindness and love!

We had the first Family Worship of this new school year on September 20!
The father in the Prodigal Son story reminds us of our God who loves us unconditionally and welcomes us back whenever we turn to God. Just as the father in the story threw a big party for the returned younger son, we had our own big party to celebrate God's love for us! We made little centerpieces with Play-Doh and wrote a message about God's love, decorated our tables, and enjoyed veggies, fruits, and cupcakes! At the end, we held each other's hands, giving thanks for this family in Christ and asking for God's help to love one another as God loves us. What a great beginning it was!
Our next Family Worship will be on Sunday, October 18. Mark it on your calendar! All ages and all families are welcome!

In remembrance of September 11, 2001:

O God, our hope and refuge,
in our distress we come quickly to you...

We come remembering those who lost their lives
in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania...

We come remembering
and we come in hope,
not in ourselves, but in you...

In commemorating this tragedy,
we give you thanks for your presence
in our time of need
and we seek to worship you in Spirit and in truth,
our guide and our guardian. Amen.

Excerpt of prayer by the Rev. Jeremy Pridgeon, First United Methodist Church, Panama City, Florida, via Discipleship Ministries, The United Methodist Church.
