God created everything and asked us to care for creation. Jesus taught us to care for one another and creation. Let us care for all creation.

This year the Feast of Creation was added to the Revised Common Lectionary calendar to be celebrated on the first Sunday in September. The theme for this new feast's first celebration, as well as our upcoming 4-week sermon series, is "Salt+Soil+Seawater." Our scriptures today are Isaiah 61:1-4 and John 1:1-5.

Look to Jesus

Sometimes God asks us to get on board with the plan quickly, so we can fulfill God's will in the world. Moses and Peter both experienced moments like this. Let us be ready to hear God's plan for us.

Today we'll look at two scriptures where I think God was telling people to quickly get on board with the plan so they can move forward. The scriptures are Exodus 3:1-15 and Matthew 16:21-26. I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday at 10 and looking deeper at these texts.

God's identity of love and light overcomes any oppressive power a leader, or human made government, may impose. The Israelites during their time in Egypt knew. The disciples of Jesus knew. And we know it holds true today.
