Sundays imply the beginning of a new week full of to-dos and activities and schedules to keep up. Did you know there is a term for the impending anxiety that a growing number of the population feels on a Sunday with starting another week? It’s called the “Sunday scaries” and it’s more than a sickness if we look beneath the surface…. It’s a symptom of an unnatural pace of life.

Throughout Scripture we see the importance of abiding with God. That’s not to say that work isn’t important, because it is, but that when we are striving and pushing ourselves towards something we must ask what we are moving towards? Mary and Martha in the New Testament reveal the pace of life and pushing through tasks FOR Jesus was never His intention for where He wants us. He didn’t want Martha running herself ragged in hopes of making everything perfect and acceptable to Jesus. Spending time with Him at His feet was what He desired most. We cannot make this world perfect and acceptable to Jesus, that is the work He is doing through redemption and restoration. What we are asked to do is abide with Christ.

As Sunday winds down and the new work week looms in front of us, take some time to prayerfully abide with Christ and ask Him what He has for you to do this week. 👣

Who God places in our lives is no accident or coincidence. Every day is an opportunity to share the love of Christ through the words we speak and the actions we choose.
Look up. Look around. Look intentionally at who is in your life, or whose life you are in.

God gives us new mercy each morning, enough for what we need each day. The world tells us to stockpile and store up for ourselves to be prepared yet the Kingdom of Heaven reveals the ways of the world are different than how the Father provides. We can look to Him for all our needs and know that He is a good giver. Where is God calling for you to lean on Him today?

Relationship is at the heart of the Father. He spent time with His creation in the Garden and has ensured that eternity will be with His creation once more through the life of Jesus. As the church, we are called to live in this world and not of it. What can often get mixed up is the priorities of the church as the hands and feet of Jesus, as a mission outpost and not a country club for comfort.

When we get out of the daily rhythm and rush of the world, we notice a change of pace and the slow intentionality that our Savior shows us time and again. When a new week or new month or new season comes our way, let’s not forget the ways that God reveals Himself in the slow unhurried pace of the Kingdom. Let’s find moments where the people as the church can push back against the speed of the world and spend time together in relationship and service. 👣

Sending teams overseas takes planning and time and most importantly partnership! Prayer surrounds those who are participate. Sponsors provide resources to teams and students. Mission does not happen independently; God intentionally uses relationships at the center of mission. Partnerships can be a one-time call or an extended relationship for the Kingdom.

Recently, we received a gift after a VBS class in Texas collected during the week for SON! It is a beautiful witness to how God calls us all to work together in the Kingdom! We are grateful for the message of love, the partnership we have, and the support that will continue to make Christ known 👣
