Hey, introverts...believe it or not, we need people. Being off by yourself is fine, but eventually we have to reconnect with others, especially those of us who are Christian introverts...it's why Jesus created the Church. (And, yes, "we/us" because I've often described myself as an "introverted extrovert".) If Jesus had thought His followers could do better on their own, He would've sent them on their way instead of telling them to stay in Jerusalem (Acts 1:4). The Church was created because Jesus knew that we'd need each other for the mission He'd given. However, the Church doesn't only exist to perform acts of service, it also exists for our mutual benefit...we need each other (see Paul's illustration about the "body" of Christ in 1 Corinthians 12). In Peter's first letter (1 Peter), he uses phrases and terms that promote a "group mentality" when it comes to pursuing a holy life. Yes, our personal holiness falls squarely on our individual shoulders, but Peter knew that we'd need help from Jesus and each other to be successful at it. This Sunday at 10:30am we'll examine this truth more closely. So, please join me in worshiping the One who wants you to succeed at being holy and is capable of helping you. Hope to see you on Sunday!
