We are excited to have Pastor Ray here in a few weeks!

We are continuing our “Meet the Speakers” series for the upcoming Christian Heritage Conference: The Puritans — A Model for Godliness Today.

Our next featured speaker is Dr. Ray Rhodes, Jr., pastor, author, and board member of The Christian Heritage Center. Ray will be preaching Session Three: The Puritans and the Godly Home.

Ray serves as the founding pastor of Grace Community Church in Dawsonville, Georgia, and as president of Nourished in the Word Ministries. Over more than three decades of pastoral ministry, he has faithfully shepherded four congregations and, for the past fifteen years, has led Nourished in the Word in its mission to encourage believers through biblical teaching and discipleship.

Ray holds theological degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min.). He is the author of several books and is widely known for his research on Charles and Susannah Spurgeon. His doctoral thesis focused on the marriage and spirituality of the Spurgeons, a subject that continues to influence his ministry and writing. Pastor Ray is very excited about his upcoming biography on Charles Spurgeon!

We are grateful to have Ray join us for this year's conference and look forward to his teaching on the biblical vision for the home. Surely, he will drop a nugget or two about C.H. Spurgeon as well :)

We look forward to having John!

We are continuing our “Meet the Speakers” series for the upcoming Christian Heritage Conference: The Puritans — A Model for Godliness Today.

Our next featured speaker is Pastor John Miller, board member of The Christian Heritage Center and pastor of Redeemer Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia. John is also the Vice-President of Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary. John will be preaching Session Two: The Puritans and the Means of Grace: The Way to Grow in Godliness.

John received his Master of Divinity from Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2007 and later earned a Master of Theology degree in Biblical Studies from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in 2018. Alongside his pastoral ministry, John has a deep love for the Scriptures, Reformed theology, and the ordinary means which God uses to strengthen and mature His people in Christ.

John and his wife, Elizabeth, have been blessed with four children.

We are thankful to have John as part of the CHC and that he is teaching at this year’s conference!

The Sacred Asylum
Philippians 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."

John Calvin's comments:
"For we are not made of iron, so as not to be shaken by temptations.

But this is our consolation, this is our solace - to deposit, or (to speak with greater propriety) to disburden in the bosom of God everything that harasses us. Confidence, it is true, brings tranquillity to our minds, but it is only in the event of our exercising ourselves in prayers. Whenever, therefore, we are assailed by any temptation, let us betake ourselves forthwith to prayer, as to a sacred asylum. "

This June, we will gather for a full day of preaching, teaching, and Christian fellowship as we consider how the Lord used the Puritans — and how their theology, piety, and practice still serve the church today.
