Sometimes, doing anything we want isn't always the right thing, and can stem from a form of pride and arrogance.

In the gospel of John, John's followers come to him telling him that Jesus is baptizing others and many are going to him. John could have become puffed up and indignant, but his response is a good reminder to us all - he has completed the role for which God called him- preparing the way of Christ - and now it is Christ whom the bride longs for. "He must become greater, I must become less." - John 3:30

I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. Let's pray for those who will hear and receive the word, making Christ Lord of their life during this time.

The world is gathering.

Soon, millions will cross borders, fill stadiums, raise flags, and celebrate together during the World Cup.

But behind every crowd is a person.
A story.
A soul who may have never heard the hope of Jesus.

Right now, believers around the world are preparing to meet people in this historic moment with the gospel.

This isn’t just about a sport.
It’s about the nations.

Samaria has had several members involved in DR over the years. Let's remember John in our prayers today as he leads DR in Ohio.

🙏 Pray for our missionary of the week, John Heading.

John serves as the state director of Ohio Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, coordinating deployment teams and helping the ministry become more effective in serving those in crisis. As a Southern Baptist Convention–endorsed chaplain, John not only supports his team members spiritually but also engages with local residents, assessing their emotional needs and looking for opportunities to share the gospel.

John said the most rewarding part is seeing people respond—not just to the physical help they receive but to the hope of Christ. “Recently, Amy and her family lost everything in a flood,” he recalled. “By the end of the day, she gave her life to Christ. Her next request was to learn how to follow Him—and for her husband to be saved.”

PRAY John would not just meet the physical needs of people in crisis but also would be sensitive to their spiritual needs.
