Ephesians 2:8-9
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Nothing is given to man unless it is given by God but some people try to acquire spiritual gifts by focusing on "works" and not "Grace."
Work is good but the feeling of earning things from God as though you deserve it due to the work of fastings, prayers, vigil and services is where the dangerous shift comes in. Statements like:
📌. I became an Apostle after speaking in tongues for 8hrs straight.
📌. I began to hear God clearly after I embarked on 7 days dry fast.
📌. I received the Apostolic mantle after I did vigils upon vigils for one month.
📌. I overcome temptations daily by blasting in tongues one hour everyday can only be made when the Grace and Mercy of God is sidelined in a man's life.
What you don't know is that darkness too carry out these works. Fastings, chantings, vigils etc as well.
A lot of young ministers ascend sincerely from the beginning but what they came back with wasn't a mantle, mandate or Purpose but familiar spirits, hexes, spells and everything counterfeit. The hunger wasn't the issue but the mind-drive.
That is why many will cry on that day and say Lord have we not prophecied and cast out devils in Thine Name forgetting that miracles are spiritual and can be powered by any spirit.
It is for a reason it is stated in the Scriptures..."For by Grace are ye saved... Not of works lest any man should boast..."
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
