He gives to His beloved sleep (260830 Sun)

Psalm 127:2 ESV
It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.

Praise : Praise the Lord! He builds my house and watches over my daily work. Everything I do is by His grace. Even though many tasks remain, it is time to rest in the Lord. He gives me a day of rest every week, and He gives me deep sleep every night. In His peace, I will find true rest by praising His mercy and grace. Amen.

Your labor is not in vain (260829 Sat)

1 Corinthians 15:58 ESV
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Lesson : Standing firm and being steadfast is not easy in this fast-changing world. Many things distract me. But I must do good works and keep going with the unchanging hope of resurrection in Jesus.

App : My Lord gave me the mission to share the Gospel and help others. With the hope of resurrection, I will do this joyfully and with a thankful heart. Amen.

The firstfruits (260828 Fri)

1 Corinthians 15:20 ESV
But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Lesson : Christ died for our sins, but He was raised to life on the third day, just as the Bible said. He became the first fruit of those who have died in His name. He is also the hope for those who are still spiritually asleep.

App : Therefore, I must share the hope of new life in Jesus Christ. This coming autumn semester, I will look for chances to share the Gospel with students. Amen.

1 Corinthians 14:33 ESV
For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

Lesson : My God is a God of peace. He wants me to live in order and find harmony with the people around me. This peaceful life helps me to share the Gospel with them.

App : There will be some changes at my workplace, as a new entity is coming. Some confusion has already started because of this. However, I will build relationships with them depending on Jesus’ humble and gentle heart. This is the way of peace that my God desires. Amen

1 Corinthians 14:19 ESV
Nevertheless, in church I would rather speak five words with my mind in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue.

Lesson : To help others, five clear words are better than many meaningless ones. This applies not only in church but also at home, at work, and in our daily lives.

App : My autumn lectures are starting soon, which always feels like a heavy task. However, this verse gives me comfort and a clear direction. I will humbly ask for God's wisdom as I prepare. Instead of using too many words, I will focus on sharing a few clear words with full understanding. Amen.

When the perfect comes (260825 Tue)

1 Corinthians 13:10 ESV
but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.

Lesson : When Jesus offered Himself as the one perfect sacrifice, the old sacrifices of the law ended. He also gave us the ultimate example of perfect love. Therefore, until He returns, I will practice His love.

App : Showing "perfect" love may seem hard, but it starts with being "patient" (1 Corinthians 13:4). Instead of insisting on my own way, I will choose to be patient with difficult situations and people. Amen.

The same care for one another (260824 Mon)

1 Corinthians 12:25 ESV
that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.

Lesson : God gave us one body with many parts. This means we have one purpose, even in our diversity. It might seem hard to understand, but it works perfectly in God's eyes—it is truly a mystery. To fulfill God’s good purpose, I must follow His will: no division, but showing the same care for one another.

App : First, I will practice this in my family, our small unit. I am not always good at looking out for others' needs. But humbly, I will deny myself and obey His will, starting with small and simple things. Amen.

Restore our fortunes, O Lord (260823 Sun)

Psalm 126:4 ESV
Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like streams in the Negeb!

Praise : Praise the Lord! He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to save us. Praise the Lord! He saved me when I was a prisoner of sin and death. He set me free and brought me into His kingdom. Praise the Lord! His heart still cares for those who are lost. He wants me to share His heart and reach out to them with His Good News. Praise the Lord! One day, songs of His salvation will overflow like a fresh stream in the desert. Praise the Lord! Amen.

1 Corinthians 12:7 ESV
To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

Lesson : Spiritual gifts are given not to show off, but to serve others. They are not just for my own benefit, but for the good of everyone. God wants me to be ready and useful through His Spirit, our Helper.

App : With the humble and gentle heart of Jesus, I must stay alert and ask myself how I can serve others right now. By following the Holy Spirit's guidance, my spiritual gifts will grow and develop even more. Amen.

As often as you eat and drink (260821 Fri)

1 Corinthians 11:26 ESV
For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

Lesson : God wants me to remember and share Jesus’ sacrifice every time I eat. Paul was talking about the Holy Communion at church, but I believe this applies to meals at home, too.

App : At every meal, my spouse and I ask our daughter to pray and thank God. We do this because we want her to learn about the Lord and grow her faith. I hope every meal at home becomes a great chance to share the Gospel and God’s grace with our family. Amen.
