Graphicom began in 1986 as a print broker, aimed primarily at the European market for illustrated books. In 1996 we acquired a bindery, now called Legatoria Camisana, and in 1998 we bought the printer ArteGrafica, a company already known for its high-quality illustrated books and catalogues. Blending Japanese folklore, supernatural imagery and contemporary illustration, Japanese Ghost Stories brings together the tales of Lafcadio Hearn in an edition illustrated by Yuko Shimizu for The The Folio Society .

The visual identity extends beyond the pages, encompassing materials, printing and binding. The interplay between the cover and the slipcase, with its die-cut window, becomes part of the storytelling: a play of appearances and revelations, where what remains hidden is just as intriguing as what is revealed.

Tra folklore giapponese, suggestioni soprannaturali e illustrazioni contemporanee, Japanese Ghost Stories raccoglie i racconti di Lafcadio Hearn in un'edizione illustrata da Yuko Shimizu per The Folio Society.

L'identità visiva del progetto si sviluppa oltre le pagine, coinvolgendo materiali, stampa e legatoria. Il dialogo tra la copertina e il cofanetto, con la sua finestra fustellata, diventa parte della narrazione: un gioco di apparizioni e rivelazioni, in cui ciò chmole si nasconde è interessante quanto ciò che viene mostrato.

Who says a book can only have one beginning?

Created for the Peter Marino Collection, this catalogue accompanies the exhibition dedicated to Betty Parsons and Carla Accardi, two leading figures of 20th-century abstract art, held at the Peter Marino Art Foundation in Southampton, New York.

The dialogue between the two artists is reflected in the book’s structure: a leporello with two covers, each dedicated to one artist, allowing the catalogue to be explored from either side.

The accordion-fold construction offers an alternative to traditional book formats: the artworks can be viewed page by page or unfolded into a continuous visual sequence that extends into space.

Chi ha detto che un libro debba avere un solo inizio?

Il catalogo realizzato per la Peter Marino Collection accompagna la mostra dedicata a Betty Parsons e Carla Accardi, due protagoniste dell'astrattismo del Novecento, ospitata dalla Peter Marino Art Foundation a Southampton, New York.

Il dialogo tra le due artiste prende forma anche nella struttura del volume: un leporello con due copertine, una dedicata a ciascuna artista, che permette di esplorare il catalogo da entrambi i lati.

La costruzione a fisarmonica offre una modalità di fruizione alternativa al libro tradizionale: le opere possono essere sfogliate in sequenza oppure osservate lungo un percorso visivo continuo, sviluppato nello spazio.

When the subject of a book is material itself, its physical construction can also become part of the story.

Textile Alchemy: The Art of Reiko Sudō & NUNO, published by DelMonico Books in collaboration with LACMA, explores the textile research of Reiko Sudō and NUNO, bringing together traditional Japanese craftsmanship, material experimentation, and technological innovation.

For the special edition, we produced a casebound book with Swiss binding, featuring a four-panel accordion fold attached to the inside front cover, housing four original NUNO fabric swatches.

This construction brings the materials to the heart of the editorial experience: the textiles are not only documented throughout the book but can also be examined up close and touched, allowing readers to directly appreciate their textures, structures, and craftsmanship.

The project is further enhanced by the printing of highly detailed photographs, where sharpness, color accuracy, and texture reproduction are essential to conveying the complexity of the textile surfaces.

An edition in which printing, binding, and assembly work together to create a direct connection between the book's content and the materials at its core.

New York: Atelier AM, published by Rizzoli Publications , features five residential projects by Alexandra and Michael Misczynski, photographed by Francois Halard.

The attention to surfaces, textures, and material finishes that defines the studio’s work is also reflected in the book’s production choices.

The cover and clamshell case are both wrapped in printed cloth, with a finish that reproduces the natural grain of wood. This effect is achieved through printing while preserving the texture and tactile qualities of the fabric.

Inside, the use of two different paper stocks and the contrast between glossy and matte surfaces allow for a carefully balanced reproduction of the photographs, with particular attention to contrast, color depth, and fine details.

New York: Atelier AM, pubblicato da Rizzoli, raccoglie cinque progetti residenziali di Alexandra e Michael Misczynski, fotografati da François Halard.

L'attenzione alle superfici, alle texture e alla resa dei materiali che caratterizza i progetti dello studio si riflette anche nelle scelte produttive del volume.

La copertina e il cofanetto a conchiglia sono rivestiti in tela stampata, con una lavorazione che riproduce le venature del legno. Un effetto ottenuto attraverso la stampa, mantenendo la consistenza e la trama del tessuto.

Per gli interni, l'utilizzo di due carte differenti e l'alternanza tra superfici lucide e opache permettono di modulare la resa delle immagini, con particolare attenzione ai contrasti, alla profondità dei colori e alla riproduzione dei dettagli.

In The Three-Body Problem Trilogy, more than 1,300 pages bring together Liu Cixin’s trilogy in a single limited edition of 750 numbered copies, signed by the author Liu Cixin and illustrator Matt Griffin, created for The Folio Society.

Designed as a collector’s object, the edition brings together printed cloth, holographic details, a covered clamshell case and four-colour digital printing across all three edges of the book block, creating a continuous visual system in which the edge artwork is designed to align with the printed cover.

The interior also works on multiple levels, alternating text with colour illustrations and black-and-white imagery.

When a project extends from the page to the cover, the edges and the case, visual consistency becomes an integral part of the production process.

In The Three-Body Problem Trilogy, oltre 1.300 pagine raccolgono la trilogia di Liu Cixin in un’unica edizione limitata a 750 copie, numerate e firmate dall’autore Liu Cixin e dall’illustratore Matt Griffin, realizzata per The Folio Society.

Un progetto pensato come oggetto da collezione, in cui copertina in tela stampata, dettagli olografici, cofanetto rivestito e stampa digitale in quadricromia sui tre lati del blocco libro costruiscono un sistema visivo continuo, con la grafica dei tagli studiata per raccordarsi a quella della copertina.

Anche l’interno lavora su più livelli, alternando testo, illustrazioni a colori e immagini in bianco e nero.

Quando il progetto si estende dalla pagina alla copertina, fino ai tagli e al cofanetto, la coerenza visiva diventa parte integrante della produzione.

Fabric becomes stone.
A bridge becomes a cave.
And an ephemeral artwork becomes a book.

"JR – La Caverne du Pont Neuf", published by TASCHEN, documents the monumental installation through which artist JR transformed one of Paris’s most recognizable landmarks in 2026.

Through large-scale printed surfaces and a temporary structure, the Pont Neuf takes on the appearance of a rock formation, altering the perception of the surrounding urban landscape.

The volume follows the process from concept to realization through sketches, collages, installation images and photographs of the finished work.

Bringing a project of this scale onto the page means preserving its depth, texture and visual impact.

Printing and photographic reproduction thus become part of the narrative: from a temporary artwork to a book designed to preserve its memory.

La tela diventa pietra.
Un ponte diventa una caverna.
E un’opera effimera diventa un libro.

"JR – La Caverne du Pont Neuf", edito da TASCHEN, racconta l’installazione monumentale con cui l’artista JR ha trasformato nel 2026 uno dei luoghi più riconoscibili di Parigi.

Attraverso grandi superfici stampate e una struttura temporanea, il Pont Neuf assume l’aspetto di una formazione rocciosa, trasformando la percezione del paesaggio urbano.

Il volume ne racconta il processo, dall’idea alla realizzazione, attraverso schizzi, collage, immagini del montaggio e fotografie dell’opera.

Portare un progetto di questa scala sulla pagina significa restituirne profondità, texture e impatto visivo.

Stampa e riproduzione fotografica diventano così parte del racconto: da un’opera temporanea a un libro destinato a conservarne la memoria.

Some projects call for efficiency and production at scale, while others gain value from a more hands-on approach.

Japanese binding is a perfect example: the stitching remains visible, becomes part of the design and is done by hand, turning the binding itself into part of the book’s identity.

For us, this means being able to work across both dimensions: industrial processes when needed, and more artisanal techniques when the project calls for them.

Ci sono progetti che richiedono efficienza e produzione su scala, e altri in cui il valore passa anche dalla componente manuale.

La legatura giapponese è un esempio perfetto: la cucitura resta visibile, entra nel progetto e viene realizzata a mano, diventando parte dell’identità del libro.

Per noi significa poter lavorare su entrambe le dimensioni: processi industriali quando servono, lavorazioni più artigianali quando il progetto le richiede.
