Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming the Archbishop of York to the Diocese of Chester for a day focused on faith, community and pilgrimage.

Highlights included visits to St Peter’s Church at the Cross and Chester Cathedral, where local schoolchildren joined Nick and Becky Drake of Songs For School in singing The Pilgrim Way. The visit also included time at St Andrew’s, Tarvin, reflecting on how places of prayer continue to support and inspire Christian life.

The day ended with a joyful celebration, giving thanks for the faithful witness of those who have gone before us and the encouragement pilgrimage offers for the journey ahead.

The sound of children singing echoed through Chester Cathedral today. 🎶

One of the standout moments of the day was gathering in Chester Cathedral as Nick and Becky Drake from Songs for Schools, led local schoolchildren in a rousing rendition of The Pilgrim Way.

The cathedral was filled with energy and joyful voices as everyone joined in, including the Archbishop. Smiling faces and enthusiastic singing created a wonderful atmosphere, bringing people together through music.

It was a truly uplifting occasion and a memorable way to mark the pilgrimage. ✨🎵⛪️

A memorable morning for local schoolchildren!

They had the opportunity to meet the Archbishop of York before joining him on a pilgrimage walk from the cross to Chester Cathedral. Along the way, they learned more about the meaning of pilgrimage and the importance of journeying together in faith.

What a wonderful start to the day!

Local schoolchildren took part in a series of engaging workshops exploring the theme of pilgrimage, discovering what it means to journey in faith and reflecting on their own experiences along the way.

There was plenty of enthusiasm, lots of thoughtful discussion, and a real sense of curiosity as pupils learned more about the significance of pilgrimage and its place in Christian life.
