Christ Church Croft Christ Church Croft is a Church of England church situated north of Warrington, within the Liverpool diocese. Mr. Croft became a parish in its own right in 1845.

We welcome people of all ages, and our belief is that the message of the good news of Jesus Christ, is as relevant today as it ever was. Our aim is to help people to get to know Jesus better and we do this by having various services, groups and activities. This page aims to share details of our successes and to keep you up to date with future events. Christ Church was built in 1832-1833 as a chapel of ease to the Mother Church of Winwick. It occupies a position in what is probably one of the highest parts of the village. The Church is of Gothic design with a spire designed by one of the foremost architects of the day, E. Blore, Esq., and built by James Pierpoint at a cost of £2,667.00, of which the Parliamentary grant provided £1,457.00, the remainder being raised locally. Samuel Barrow gave the land for the Church & Churchyard; the Church was consecrated by the Bishop of Chester (in whose diocese Croft then was) on 29th November 1833. The present site was chosen as being a mid-point between Croft and Risley who’s two communities it was built to serve. The seating capacity was 518, made up of 226 in paid pews and 292 free. In 1904 the old high-backed pews in the nave of the Church were replaced by the present Oak pews. The stone flagged floor was also replaced by the present wood block one. This week we are excited to be starting our Cultivate course sessions.

At 11am on Tuesdays in Newchurch Parish Hall, Common Lane, Culcheth, WA3 4EH, starting on the 6th of October.

At 7pm on Thursdays in St Peter’s Church, Church Lane, Newton-le-Willows, WA12 9SR, starting on the 8th of October.

The sessions will continue for 6 weeks on the Tuesdays and Thursdays, if you can’t make one, you can join the other as they will be doing the same training throughout.

Cultivate is a course that helps us think about how we can serve our local communities, with examples of how others have worked in their local areas, chances to ask questions and work together to get the good news of Jesus shared with the world around us in different ways through our prayers and actions.

Join us in this 3 parishes walk this Friday 2nd October. Full details are on the attached.

This Friday……..

Friday 2nd October - Walk across 3 Parishes including St. Oswald’s Well.

Please come and join us on our walk. The walk is approximately 7 miles but you are welcome to join us at any stage of the journey, if you wish to.

Below are the approximate times we will be setting off from the 3 churches:

10:30 Walkers with cars gather at Newchurch Parish Church, Culcheth to take some cars to St. Oswald’s.

10:45am Assemble at Newchurch Car Park to set off for 11am.

12pm Arrive at Christ Church Croft and have lunch, you need to bring your own picnic!

12:45pm Walk to St. Oswald’s Church.

2:15pm Walk from St. Oswald’s Church to St. Oswald’s Well.**
Prayers and a blessing at the Well, then walk back to St. Oswald’s. (2 mile round trip)

Please remember to bring your own lunch and wear stout footwear!

**St Oswald’s Well is in a field and therefore on uneven terrain.
