We’ve been keeping an eye on the weather but unfortunately we need to postpone tomorrow’s beach clean due to the ongoing high winds… watch this space for a new date, hopefully in Nov!

Today at Roots kids 🌱 we looked at God’s top 10! These are the rules he gave to his people in the Old Testament that underpin how Jesus asks us to live today.

We started by playing the game without rules 😂, there was chaos! Initially the kids liked being able to do whatever they wanted, but soon got frustrated that they didn’t know how to play. This helped introduce God’s rules for living, how they keep us safe and show us how to love God and others.

We then got to work creating 🧱🪛🔩🧑‍🔧 props for the story and then listened to the story from the Bible 📖.

We sorted the rules into loving God and loving others like Jesus taught us in Matt 22v36-40 and we chatted about how easy it is to keep these rules as kids and adults i.e. it’s impossible! The only person who could ever keep all the rules was Jesus. He promises to help us as we try to love God and others but when we make mistakes, He promises to forgive us when we say sorry.

Finally the kids told the story using our props and we made some bookmarks to take home with our new books about prayer and talking to God 📚

We gathered in the woods today as family and friends… playing, eating, singing, creating, praying, learning and encouraging one another… church in the woods 🙌🏻🔥

We talked and learnt about God’s presence… what does it mean when we use the phrase ‘Presence’ ‘Holy Spirit’, Who is it? Where is it? How does it show up?

We remembered how God’s Spirit was there at the beginning, how it came as cloud and fire (we reenacted following the cloud as it led Gods people), we remembered Jesus and that He came as God’s presence in human form on earth and then after Jesus died and went to heaven, the fire that came to his friends, His Holy Spirit presence is now present for each and every one of his followers and friends today…

He leads us, he guides us, he shows us how to live and how to worship & pray, he gives us confidence, evidence and stories to tell others about Jesus, Jesus living in and through us guarantees our acceptance with God…

Do you know Him? We’d love you to meet him too… drop us a line if we can pray for you or if you want to find out more! 🔥

It was such a joy welcoming back our Roots kids today after the summer break 🌱

We reminded one another of our Roots kids values and welcomed some new additions to the crew 👧🏼👧🏻

Our story today was Creation 🌍. We created a chalk picture based on John 1 which tells us Jesus ✝️ was there at the beginning! While we snacked we listened to the story from the Jesus storybook bible. What a perfect world it was!

We chatted together about how we can look after our 🌎....by being kind, litter picking and not hurting one another.

So we put it into practice and to show we love where we live, we did a big litter pick at the park 🛝!

Of course there was lots of fun and playing too 🥳

What a brilliant weekend we’ve had at Coastal Roots Community, gathering as family to join in with the 24/7 Global Week of Prayer, kicking of this academic year pressing in to pray together and going deeper into the presence of God…

In the name of JESUS, we have worshipped and prayed, asking for peace around the globe, unity in the place where we’re planted, asking for God’s presence to be known and experienced and for the light to go out into our everyday spaces…

Crying out for more 🙌🏻🙌🏻 C’mon!

Prayer changes things… have you tried it? We’re still learning and would love you to learn with us… drop us a DM to find out more

A few weeks ago it was Roots Kids sports day… they had some wild fun as they learnt about a man called Zacchaeus meeting Jesus in the bible and Jesus calling him by name from the tree he was in 🌳. They also looked at Psalm 139, played with the marble run, parachute & enjoyed obstacle & water games. 💦

Then this weekend at Roots kids 🌱 they brought along some coins 🪙! It was fun figuring out where they were all from on our world map 🗺️. We used these to pray for lots of different 24/7 prayer communities and friends across the globe!

Tree of Life
Glasnost in Macedonia 🇲🇰
polylux_ev in Germany
Maoni preschool in Malawi
Friends and family in Norway, Poland, Canada

It was a good reminder that God’s people are everywhere, and each individual is loved and precious.

We played hide and seek 😂, snacked and did a little recap of the previous stories 🌻🚣‍♀️🌴 and the kids were amazing showing how much they have learnt!

We then read and listened to the story Jesus told about a lost coin.

Through this parable Jesus was teaching us that we are all valued. When we are found and become part of God’s family there is a huge party of celebration in heaven 🥳.

We finished off with a treasure hunt of our own to make our verse this week Luke 19v10
