The restoration of the clock face has started. An engineer abseiled from the tower to carefully bring the clock face to the ground. It has now been taken to The Cumbria Clock Compnay in Dacre, Penrith for repair. This company cares for many clocks in buildings around the country, including the recent full restoration of Big Ben, so it's in good hands.

The 10.30am service at St Michael's, Bootle this Sunday, 24th, will be a celebration of Pentecost. This is the "Birthday of the Church" and to join in with the celebration, it would be great if everyone coming could wear something red - a scarf, tie, a cardigan or jumper...

The festival commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and followers of Jesus in Jerusalem, and the red symbolises the flames of the Holy Spirit.

Christian Aid Week
Thank you to everyone who came along to the Afternoon Tea at the Rectory - you helped to raise over £160.
This money will go towards all the work that Christian Aid does around the world to remove poverty and injustice and helping humanitarian emergencies.

The bluebells in the churchyard at St John's, Corney look absolutely wonderful at the moment.. and their display is even more impressive if you can see it in real life. Then you'll be able to enjoy nature, the incredible views of the fells and the peace and tranquility of a lovely, rural church.
