Kenya Mission Team Update:

After 384 kids turned up on day one, the word has spread and today (day three) an incredible 480 kids arrived to enjoy the crafts, activities and bible stories that the team had prepared! They are particularly enjoying simple things like colouring and crafts because they just don’t get to do those sorts of activities at home or school.

It’s been super encouraging that some of the kids are even responding positively to the invitation to follow Jesus! Praise the Lord!

Tomorrow is the final day of the holiday club and everyone is looking forward to a talent show, which will apparently include our LBC team performing a dance!

Our young people especially have really stepped up to take on leadership roles which has been a joy to see, and everyone is in good spirits and good health, but there’s lots of tired minds and bodies after what has been an amazing but exhausting three days so far.

We can’t wait to share how the final day goes and to hear more stories of lives committed to Jesus!

Update from Kenya:

After a busy few days of planning, meeting locals and getting to know the area (including going off on a hike despite the very warm weather!), today saw the start of the holiday club for our Kenya Mission Team, and an incredible 384 kids turned up to enjoy games, activities, crafts and bible stories!

The team have spent the evening re-thinking and adjusting their plans to account for the massive number they’re expecting again tomorrow, and settling down for some well deserved (and much needed) rest!

One of the other highlights so far has been the opportunity for some of our young people to meet one of the children they’ve been sponsoring through bake sales and other fundraising back here in the UK. It was a humbling and emotional experience!

As well as serving alongside the local Kenyan team on day 2 of the holiday club, tomorrow a small group will be heading off to the Dreamland Hospital to see more of the work that goes on there.

Keep up the good work, team!

The local Kenyan team are bringing the energy as they prepare to plan the holiday club with our mission team.

13 of our members (both adults and young people) have travelled to Kimilili in Kenya and they’ll be working alongside this local team to deliver a holiday club or disadvantaged kids in the coming days.

As we prepare to celebrate Easter Sunday (you’re very welcome to join us at 10.30am tomorrow morning), our Kenya mission team have arrived safely in Kimilili.

They’ll be there for just over a week and will be helping to run a holiday club for the local disadvantaged kids, as well as supporting the work of the Dreamland Hospital and community work.

In anticipation of their arrival, the local Kenyan team were out and about (even wearing inflatable costumes despite the 30 degree heat) to promote the holiday club and engage with the community.

We’ll share updates as and when we receive them, and if you’re part of our church family you’ll also receive regular prayer updates on our prayer chain.
