Something a little quirky…

Jesus is in unexpected places today.

When you turn on the lights and spot a tiny Jesus and Mary figure …the hunt begins. So far we’ve found just over 30 hidden around All Saints.

Come and see if you can find more than 33.

Our Vicar, Revd Mel Burnside, recently reflected on her experience of the Arthur Rank Centre’s Germinate Leadership Programme, which supports rural lay and clergy leaders from across Christian denominations.

Rural ministry brings both challenges and opportunities, and programmes like this help equip leaders to grow in confidence, collaboration and faithful service within their communities.

We are grateful for opportunities to learn, reflect and strengthen ministry in ways that help us continue to serve Helmsley, Upper Ryedale and our wider rural communities well.

Do take a look at the short video below.

What a lovely afternoon at All Saints’ Church, Helmsley on Friday for our Tea Time Concert. The church was full as we enjoyed a wonderful programme of music from Yoshika Yasutake and Elizabeth Sayers, followed by a truly spectacular afternoon tea prepared by our catering team.

Together, the event raised more than £480 towards church funds, and we are hugely grateful to everyone who came, supported, baked, served, washed up, welcomed and donated.

Special thanks go to Yoshika and Liz for sharing their remarkable musical gifts so generously, and to Kate Senior for organising the afternoon so beautifully. It was one of those occasions that reminded us how much joy there is in music, hospitality and community shared together in church.

Do you love the beauty and tradition of Choral Evensong?
The Helmsley Chamber Choir sing BCP Choral Evensong at All Saints Church, Helmsley on the first Sunday of each month, and we would love to welcome some new voices.
At the moment we are particularly looking for sopranos, though all voice parts are welcome. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm and the choir is a friendly and supportive group, whether you are an experienced singer or returning to singing after some time away.
Choral Evensong is one of the treasures of the Church’s worship: prayer, scripture and beautiful music woven together in a peaceful hour at the end of the day.
If you might be interested, or would simply like to know more, please get in touch with our Organist and Choirmaster Keith Johnson - see poster or our website for contact details.

Tomorrow we celebrate Saint George, remembered as a witness to courage, faith, and hope in Christ.

This evening at All Saints Church, Helmsley we have raised the St George's Flag in readiness for tomorrow’s commemorations. Inside church, our wall painting of Saint George and the dragon reminds us that each generation must face its own struggles against fear, injustice, and division.

We pray for England, that we may grow in compassion, neighbourliness, unity, and peace.

You may also like to join the Church of England online prayers for St George’s Day tomorrow at 11.30am, as people gather in worship across England and beyond.

The church will be open if you would like to come in, light a candle, and pause for prayer.
