ًTEC Thought for Today 7 March
Mark 6:6 ‘And He marveled because of their unbelief (their lack of faith in Him). And He went about among the surrounding villages and continued teaching.’
In the Bible, we read of Jesus ‘marveling’ only twice. The first time when he was faced with the faith of the foreign centurion and testified that he had not seen such faith in the whole of Israel. The second time is here in our verse for today. Jesus marvels, not at faith, but at unbelief, and specifically the unbelief of his own people. You would think people who had been waiting for a Messiah would have rejoiced and been glad when Jesus made public declaration of who he was. But even in his own home town of Nazareth, people would not believe. What was Jesus response to this? Well, undeterred, Jesus graciously continued to go about teaching the word of God, touching peoples lives, healing the sick and blessing the children.
I wonder what Jesus sees when he looks at our faith today. Are we truly following his words or are we somehow lacking in our trust and belief? If we think we are lacking; how wonderful it is to remember that God‘s grace keeps extending to us. How great it is to know that as people around us seem to continually reject Jesus as Saviour, He is still willing to reach out to them in love, truth, mercy and grace, and to receive them as His very own. Pray for yourself today to have increased faith and pray for those around you to come to faith in Jesus. Never stop believing in all that God can do!
Charles Gabriel’s hymn puts it like this;
“How marvelous, how wonderful and my songs shall ever be:
How marvelous, how wonderful is my Saviour’s love for me!”

ًTEC Thought for Today 5 March
Proverbs 19:15 ‘Slothfulness casts one into a deep sleep, and the idle person shall suffer hunger.’

Today’s verse is very interesting. It’s all about being idle. Now, in the scriptures, we read a lot and hear a lot about idols, and we are careful in our lives, not to make anything an idol or worship anyone other than God. However, sometimes we do give way to being idle! Here are some examples!
How many times do we make idle promises? Those times when we commit to something and say I’ll do it and then grow disinterested and stop doing it. How many times are we ‘ all talk’ and no action?
How many times do we form idle habits? Occasions when we waste precious time following the things we want to do and stop investing in eternity and the things God wants us to do?
How many times do we use idle words? Words that come so easy to us that pour out like water from a water fountain, but are actually words of gossip and rumor, or words that assassinate the character and reputation of someone else, or words that repeat crude and godless humor. It’s so easy for us to stir the pot and start a rumor, as James says it’s hard to keep a rain on our tongues. This idleness often and easily causes issues between us.
How often do we exhibit idle pride? Times when the us in us raises its head and where we march to the beat of our own drum, becoming more and more self absorbed and self obsessed to the detriment of others around us and in our church family.
These few simple words from the book of Proverbs remind us of how vital it is for each of us to guard against idleness which so easily creeps into our everyday experiences. Are you on guard today? May God give all of us the ability to see exactly what our words and actions are achieving, or not achieving as the case maybe!

ًTEC Thought for Today 4 March

Isaiah 26:3 “You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.”

Today’s verse contains one of the most beautiful promises in the scriptures – the promise of peace to all those who have their minds settled and focused on God.
Today we have such a variety of media available to us that we are able to listen to many different subjects and points of view in News and sports. Everyone from everywhere has an opinion on something. Unfortunately, this huge variety can often take our minds to places that may not be helpful to us. We can often find ourselves focusing on everything, except Jesus; who ought to be the main focus of our lives when we believe in Him. However, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we are able to control our thoughts :- in the book of Second Corinthians 10 :5, Paul reminds us that we are able to bring into captivity every thought that we have and bring it under the obedience of Christ. Often the Lord purposely keeps His voice still and small so that we can practice to listen carefully to all that he has to say to us.
Have you taken time to listen to Him today. Is your mind racing through all sorts of other issues that you’re facing or that are causing concern in our world? Is your mind ‘stayed’ or focused on God? Are you constantly thinking of Him and what Jesus would do in any situation you face? Our answers to these questions are important. Because they indicate where our minds really are, and if we’re still struggling to find peace, perhaps we are not purposely focused on Christ, who gives peace to us or on God, who gives his beloved rest. Our world and our region is in turmoil, and many of our lives are facing difficulties and trials – but if we are focused on Christ, we will always find peace.

Thought for Today 3rd March 2026

1 Chronicles 27:32 ‘Also Jonathan, David's uncle, was a counselor, a wise man and a scribe; he and Jehiel son of Hachmoni attended the king's sons [as tutors].’

When we think of Jonathan from the Bible, we always think of David’s friend and King Saul‘s son. But there was another Jonathan who influenced Davids life, some people have called him ‘the forgotten Jonathan’. He was David’s uncle. His name is mentioned in the scriptures, and in our verse today because of the wisdom and advice he was able to give
When coming across this verse, it reminded me to thank God for the God-given, wisdom and advice of His saints who have helped me through my lifetime, by drawing alongside and influencing my walk with God. Many people who influence and advise us, may never appear in the front line of Christian service, or at the front in church, but they are important contributors to the lives of fellow believers. Think of people who spoke to you about the Lord or helped guide you onto a good path and take time to give thanks to God for their lives, experience and wisdom.
God calls every one of us to set an example; to help each other; to know and understand the word of God, so that we can inject godly advice into the lives of others. He also calls us to do this humbly by drawing alongside one another and not looking for attention to be drawn to ourselves. Ask the Lord to make you a fount of wisdom for someone else today. Ask Him to enable you to draw alongside someone who might be struggling, or fearful, or hurting, so that you can be a Jonathan, and serve the Lord well.
The hymn writer Oswald Smith, put it like this;
“There is joy and serving Jesus,
As I journey on my way,
Joy that fills the heart with praises,
Every hour and every day!”
Ask God to make this your experience today.

ًTEC Prayer Time - 2nd March 2026

Psalm 37:24 ‘Commit your way to the Lord; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.’
1. Thank God, for the promise we have that He will commit to us and that we are given grace to commit to him. Pray for a greater reliance upon the Lord in your life.
2. Continue to pray for the situation in the Middle East, for the people of Iran, and for all those in neighboring countries, who are being attacked. Pray for our own island of Cyprus, which came under attack last night, pray that the Lord would protect all who live here and all those innocent citizens across the whole region. Pray for His mercy to prevail, for evil to be vanquished, and for peace to come quickly to the Middle East.
3. Pray for Dr. Marcus as he continues with his medical help and advice tomorrow, when he will hold surgeries and also do home visits. Pray for the rest of the Big Woods team as they prepare to leave Cyprus for home on Wednesday morning.
4. Pray for all who are hurting today; remember, especially those who have lost loved ones recently and are mourning their loss; pray for all who are ill or recovering from illness, and for those who are facing chronic conditions which are lifelong and life-threatening. Pray for anyone who is hurting from a broken friendship or relationship; ask the Lord to bring help and restoration. Pray for anyone living with constant physical pain or with illnesses of the mind. Once again, pray for restoration and healing.

We have only four prayer points, but they contain a lot of necessary things to pray for; thank you for your faithfulness in prayer 🙏

Thought For Today 2nd March 2026

Acts 17:24 ‘The God Who produced and formed the world and all things in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in handmade shrines.

Acts 17:27 ‘So that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us.’

Yesterday, Pastor Tim reminded us how much we matter to God. The verses for today follow the same theme. No matter who we are, or where we are from, the God who produced and formed the world and who created us, knows us. He knows us by name therefore we matter to Him. In verse 27 Paul reminds those to whom he was speaking on Mars Hill in Athens, that God is not far from each one of us; later on,in verse 28, He also says that it is in and through God we live and move and have our being.
It is good to be reminded that all that we do is with breath and life that comes from God. He is all around us. We see evidence of this when we look at the created world, as we watch a sunset, as we view the splendor of the mountains, as we contemplate the depths of the seas ; we see God. I am reminded that in complete darkness, we stumble around and fall because we’re blind and cannot see - but when there is light, everything is different. Brothers and sisters we walk in great light – Jesus, the light of the world has changed us and made all things new! Pray that today you may have eyes to see Him and all that he has created; pray that you may have understanding enough to know that He is with you, no matter what you might have to face. Pray that you would have the ability to feel after God, as the verse 27 says, so that you are able to find His presence in your life, bringing light and hope to you today!
