TEC Thought for Today September 11, 2026 Romans 4:4-5 "Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness."

There are only two kinds of righteousness in the world. The first is a wage. You build it by your own effort, your discipline, and your record. The problem is, the moment your standing before God is your own, it rises and falls with you. It is only as secure as your worst week.

The second is a gift. It does not move, because it never depended on you in the first place. It can hold you on your worst day as securely as on your best, because it was built entirely by Jesus Christ.

We all slide back toward earning without ever deciding to. We try to be good enough to deserve what God has already freely given, and it exhausts us. If you have simply exchanged one list of worldly requirements for a Christian list of requirements, you are still carrying a profit column.

Are you exhausted from trying to keep your spiritual accounts in the black? Stop working for a wage. The gospel is not a better religion; it is the end of the accounting altogether.

TEC Thought for Today September 9, 2026 Matthew 13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."

Notice the emotion in this short parable. The man sells absolutely everything he owns, but he does not do it out of grim obligation or regret. He does it "in his joy."
He has not become poor. He has become incredibly rich, and the old things he used to value have simply been re-priced. When Paul took his impressive religious record and wrote it all in the loss column, he was not mourning his heritage. He had simply found a treasure worth immeasurably more.

When you follow Jesus, you will be asked to give things up. Your pride. Your own way. Your reputation. Your need to prove yourself. But this is not the language of giving up something good for nothing. It is the language of exchanging what cannot last for what cannot be lost.

What is Christ asking you to re-price today? Do not look at what it costs. Look at the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus as Lord instead.

TEC Thought for Today September 2, 2026
Mark 10:43-45 "But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Before Timothy, before Epaphroditus, before any servant in the history of the church, there was Christ. And He turned the whole world upside down with one sentence. Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant. In the kingdoms of this world, greatness climbs. In the kingdom of God, greatness stoops.

Then Jesus points to Himself. The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve. Consider who is speaking. This is not a poor man making the best of a hard life. This is the eternal Son of God, who had every right to be served by every creature in heaven and on earth. He had infinite reason to be served. And He chose the opposite.

And He did not stop at serving. He gave His life as a ransom for many. A ransom is the price paid to set a captive free. You were the captive. Your sin was the chain. And the price was His own blood. Nobody took it from Him. He gave it.

This is why Christian service is not a heavy burden laid on your back. It is a response. We do not serve in order to earn God's love. We serve because we have already received a love we could never have earned, at a cost we could never have paid.

Today, before you try to serve anybody, stop and remember what was done for you. Thank God for one thing Christ did that you could never have done for yourself. Service that grows out of gratitude will outlast service that grows out of guilt.

TEC Thought for Today 1 September, 2026
Philippians 2:4 "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."

Paul does not tell you to stop caring about your own life. He does not say your work does not matter, or your family does not matter, or your worries are unimportant. Read the verse carefully. He says do not look ONLY to your own interests. Your own life is real, and God has given it to you to steward faithfully.

But do not stop there. That is not the whole command. Most of us are not failing because we care too much about our own lives. We are failing because our field of vision has narrowed until we cannot see anyone else in it. We wake up thinking about our problems, we work thinking about our problems, and we go to bed thinking about our problems. And the person sitting beside us on Sunday is carrying something heavy that we have never once asked about.

Look also to the interests of others. This requires a decision, because it will not happen by accident. Nobody drifts into noticing other people. You must deliberately lift your eyes off your own plate long enough to see what is on someone else's.

And be careful here. It is possible to ask someone how they are and not want the answer. There is a way of asking that is really only a way of saying hello. And there is a way of asking that waits, that is not in a hurry, that is willing to be changed by what it hears.

Today, ask one person how they are. Then stay. Do not fill the silence. Do not rush to the next thing. Wait for the real answer, and let it cost you something.

TEC Thought for Today August 31, 2026
Philippians 2:20-21 "For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ."

Paul was sitting in a Roman prison. He needed one person he could send to the church in Philippi. Someone who would genuinely put that church's needs above his own comfort. He looked around at the believers near him, and he found one. Only one. Everyone else was seeking their own interests.

Read that again, because it is a frightening sentence. These were not wicked people. They were not enemies of the gospel. They were ordinary Christians, each one busy with their own concerns, and not one of them free to make the journey. This is how most of us fail God. Not through dramatic sin. Not through scandal. We fail quietly, by being fully occupied with our own lives and never once looking up.

Notice what Paul says about the one man he found. Timothy would be genuinely concerned for their welfare. That word is strong. It does not mean Timothy felt sorry for them from a distance. It means he carried their trouble in his own chest, as if it were his own trouble. He did not send sympathy. He gave himself.

Ask yourself honestly today: whose burden am I actually carrying? Not whose burden do I know about. Not whose situation do I pray for in a general way. Whose weight is on my shoulders right now because I chose to pick it up?

We serve a Savior who did not stay at a safe distance from us. He came down. He entered our trouble and made it His own. If Christ carried what belonged to us, we can carry what belongs to each other. Look up today. Find one person, and pick up what they are carrying.

TEC Prayer Time for Today August 29, 2026

Psalm 51:1 "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy, blot out my transgressions."

1) Our God is a merciful God. Cry out to Him for mercy. Ask the Lord to have mercy on you and your family according to His steadfast love and according to His abundant mercy.
2) Pray for our service tomorrow especially for Joel and Pastor Aaron as they lead and share the word of God with us.
3) Pray for our breakfast before service tomorrow. Pray for all those who will be attending and especially for those who will be preparing the breakfast.
4) Pray for God's comfort upon the families of the 27 church members killed in Zimbabwe after a minibus bursts into flames after road accident.
5) Pray for those transporting people to and from Church especially for elder Luke who is leading the department.
6) Continue to pray for the evil going on between Russia and Ukraine especially as Russian attack on a warehouse on Kyiv region in Ukraine killed at least 27 people.
7) Pray for the family of King Oyo Nyimba (a Ugandan King who was once world's youngest Monarch) who died at the age of 34.
8) keep praying for the families of missing people in Nepal and for comfort upon the families of more than 600 people who have been found dead because of the flash flood.
9) Pray for all those who will be attending church services tomorrow especially those who will be following our service online. Ask the Lord to speak into our hearts.

TEC Thought for Today August 29, 2026

Psalm 23:1 and 4 "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
A Shepherd is a person who looks after, feeds and guards a flock of sheep. By calling God a Shepherd, the verse highlights a close, personal relationship where God protects and looks after every need, leaving the believer fully content and lacking nothing. God provides complete care, safety, and guidance for His people. God is a personal guide who watches over, leads, and deeply cares for believers just like a shepherd cares for sheep.
Believers in Christ Jesus have ultimate satisfaction and security, trusting that God supplies all necessary things in their lives so they lack no vital good that is why believers shall not want. So, brothers and sisters, shift your mindset from stress and self-reliance to deep trust in God. Let God guide your daily choices, find your contentment in His care rather than in material things. Stop trying to manage every outcome on your own. Ask God to lead your daily choices, career, and relationships. Make time to hear God's voice and instructions instead of rushing into your plans. Trust that He is guarding you from harm, just like a real shepherd protects his sheep. Always reminds yourself that with God as your provider, you lack nothing essential.
God remains close and protective during life's darkest trials, deepest sorrows, suffering, illness, and most terrifying moments that is why you will not fear any evil even if you walk through the valley of the shadow of death. The valley of the shadow of death represents severe hardships, illness, grief, fears, or major life uncertainties. But the focus shifts from the danger, the valley of the shadow of death to the certainty of God's presence (for you are with me). Because God is near, fear is replaced by peace, comfort and courage.
The Rod in most cases is used to defend against enemies and the Staff used to guide and rescue. This shows God's power to protect you from danger and God's gentle care to keep you safe and on the right path.
Expect hard time and understand that life includes dark moments, grief, and pain. Do not let fear trap you in the dark part of the road. So, choose to trust God's presence during hard times, turn your worries into quiet prayers and remember that difficult seasons are paths you walk through rather than places where you stay. Tell yourself you do not need to be afraid because God is right next to you.
Look at God's strength instead of looking at the scary shadows around you.

TEC Thought for Today August 27, 2026

Romans 8:38-39 "For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Your standing with God as a Christian does not rest on your own strength, but on God. So, nothing in all creation, including death, life, spirits, time, or any forces can ever separate a believer from the steadfast love of God found in Jesus Christ. These verses offer ultimate spiritual security, deep comfort during trials and the assurance that God's commitment is unbreakable. Apostle Paul lists extremes like death and life, angels and rulers to show that every danger is powerless against God's love. The physical boundaries of human existence cannot separate us from the love of God. Unseen spiritual forces and cosmic authorities lack the jurisdiction to break this bond. Current struggles and future uncertainties cannot disrupt God's commitment.
This is the absolute security of believers' bond with God. No created power in the universe surpasses God's strength and authority. Paul states with complete personal certainty that God's hold on His people is permanent. This unbreakable love is not based on human goodness but is anchored securely in Christ Jesus our Lord. Remind yourself that, things to come, and things that have past, have no power over God's grip on your life. When life feels overwhelming, trust that current hardships do not mean God has left you. So, stop trying to earn God's love through performance; rest in the fact that His love is constant and unchanging.
Repeat Paul's words (neither death nor life, nor anything else in all creation nor panic or doubt will ever separate you from the love of God). Talk to God honestly, knowing your struggles and weaknesses cannot push Him away from you.

TEC Prayer Today August 26, 2026

Isaiah 43:19 "Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert."

1) Thank God for His faithfulness, His righteousness, His grace, and His mercy upon you and your family.
2) Our God is a miracle working God. He can make a way where there seen to be no way. Present that situation before God in prayer and thanksgiving.
3) Pray for Martha who is not feeling well today. Ask the Lord God Almighty to heal her in Jesus Name.
4) Continue to pray for total healing upon Stella White, Vakis, Chris, Tony, and the grandson of Vakis.
5) Pray for the families of the 14 newborns babies killed at a hospital in Pakistan after fire break out.
6) Pray for the Muslim Worshippers who were kidnapped during an attack on Mosques in North-Central Niger state of Nigeria last Friday.
7) Pray for the families of 8 killed in the flood in Nepal. Pray for God's comfort upon those families.
8) Pray for Sudan and for the families of dozens killed in rebel attacks. Pray for peace in Sudan and many other countries at wars.

TEC Thought for Today August 26, 2026

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths."⁸
We are told to trust the Lord. When we trust in something, we are placing our security in that entity. Trust in the Lord because only God is perfectly trustworthy and faithful. But if we do not take time to know Him, we will never come to trust Him. So, to trust God, we must know Him.
Trust the Lord with all your heart! This means placing your heart at the Lord's feet. This surrender leaves no room for our own anxiety or worry, but completely entrusts our 'being' to God's sovereignty. We MUST fully trust God instead of relying on our own limited wisdom. If we truly trust Him, we have to let go of our pride, our own programs, and our plans. We have to rely on God with our entire being, not just part of our lives.
Do not depend or lean on your own understanding, efforts, Knowledge, wealth, or power but lean completely into the strong arms of God. Let go of what you think is the solution to that issue you are going through and let God takes the helm of what He perfectly knows. Stop depending entirely on your own logic, feeling, or limited view of life to figure things out.
Not in some ways, or some days, but always with all your ways acknowledge God. You need to admit the existence, reality, and trustworthiness of God. You need to acknowledge Him as Lord over your world and to give Him full access to your life. Please, involve God in every part of your daily life, decisions, rather than treating Him as an afterthought.
When we trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understand, He will direct our paths. He will begin to establish our steps and lead us where He needs us. He will clear confusion, He will guide our direction, and will lead us safely through life.
