Becoming a Blessing to the World
Service, care, inclusiveness and interdependence are the four key values being taught by the Protestant Christian Batak Church (HKBP) seminary in North Sumatra, Indonesia, as part of a training program for 194 students currently studying to become pastors.
LWF Program Executive for Transformative Leadership Rev. Katariina Kiilunen visited the seminary last week, together with LWF Regional Secretary Rev. Dr Rospita Siahaan, meeting with staff and students, as well as giving a lecture on Responsible Theology and Confessional Identity.
Student enrollment in theology, under the leadership of seminary principal Rev. Dr Sukanto Limbong, continues to grow, offering high-quality formation and training for future pastors. Its Professional Competency and Organizational Behavior program runs from May through October, strengthening four core competencies: spirituality, knowledge of church history and traditions, ministry skills and organizational capacity in order to support HKBP’s vision of ‘Becoming a Blessing to the World’.
