LWF Assembly

LWF Assembly The LWF Thirteenth Assembly will be held in Krakow, Poland, in September 2023. Please join us on the way. Languages: English, German, Spanish, French.

The Assembly is the LWF’s highest decision-making body and highest representation of the life of the LWF. The Assembly theme, One Body, One Spirit, One Hope, reminds us that in a fragmented world, we are called to unity in the one body of Christ. The theme is drawn from Ephesians 4:4 (NRSV): “There is one body, one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called. One Body
This ele

ment represents our relationship as one body of Christ, rooted in the love of Christ, centered in the cross of Christ and our sacramental life together, and united in service to God’s creation. It expresses the body of Christ rejoicing together, liberated by grace, with arms reaching out to the world in holistic mission. It also reminds us that we are inextricably connected to each other and all creation. We see in this image a spirit of welcome and hospitality, reflecting the city of Kraków and the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland, the host for the Assembly. One Spirit
This element represents our connection in and through the work of the Holy Spirit. The dove as the Holy Spirit moving us, igniting renewal in the church, our communities, and the world. The dove also serves as a symbol of peace and unity, drawing upon the theme of the Assembly biblical text from Ephesians 4:3-4. This image of unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace is a reminder of God’s transformative work of justice, peace and reconciliation. One Hope
This element represents the hope we have in our faith, rooted in Christ - hope that springs forth like leaves on a branch, bearing new life. The three leaves represent our Trinitarian theology as Lutherans and combined with the branch reflect the commitment of the LWF Communion of churches to ecological and economic justice. The branch in this design is a direct reference to the branch carried by the dove in the LWF logo – tying together the themes of reconciliation through advocacy and dialogue as well as stewardship of creation. The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland is the LWF member churche hosting the assembly.

This is the week of the Assembly! Join us in prayer today with Kościół Ewangelicko-Augsburski (Luterański) w Polsce (ECACP) for the churches and people in Peru. ECACP is hosting the 2023 LWF General Assembly in Kraków, Poland and prays for a LWF member churches each week.
------

Dear God, we thank you for the beautiful country of Peru and for its people, who are a mosaic of cultures, beliefs and hopes. Today we turn to you in prayer, asking for Your blessing over Peru and the Lutheran community in that country.

We recall the difficult times Peru has experienced in the past, as a result of armed conflicts that brought much suffering and loss. We thank you for the present peace and hope that it shapes the future of this nation. We ask You to continue Your protection of Peru, helping in the pursuit of improved living conditions and internal peace. We support all the people of Peru with our prayers.

We ask for Your blessing on those, who strive to build justice, reconciliation and love. May Your light guide them in this path. We also ask Your blessing on the Lutheran Church of Peru. We give thanks for this community, which for many years has testified to Your love and grace. We ask for strength for Lutherans in Peru, so that they may continue to work for social justice, environmental protection and the preservation of democratic values.

May Your grace rest upon Peru, may it lead the country toward a better future full of hope and peace. We offer all this in Your name, Almighty God.
Amen.

Today we turn to you in prayer, asking for Your blessing over Peru and the Lutheran community in that country.
