Even though Saint John's Pride Week will be later in the summer (July 17-26), we also celebrate Pride Month around here, which is marked internationally in the month of June.

Here is a Pride Month message from the Moderator of The United Church of Canada, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Kimberly Heath. She is reflecting on the apology that was issued by the church last August, and how that is a beginning and not an ending. We affirm that everyone is beautifully created in God's image - all people of every gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, language, creed, age, ability. Yet the church has messed up in the past (and still sometimes messes up today). We are truly sorry for the harm that we, as the church, have done; and we continually strive to do better - to model God's radically inclusive love. https://youtu.be/tH6JkGe3ME0?si=VXB0srq90WLX-EgU

What are you doing to celebrate Pride Month this year? (And stay tuned for more events in July, including walking in the Saint John Pride Parade and hosting a shared Pride Week worship service ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

In 2025, The United Church of Canada offered an apology to 2S and LGBTQIA+ people and communities—naming the real harm caused through words, actions, silence...

Bible Study continues tomorrow!

At our last gathering, we finished our ?5? year project of reading the Old Testament to get a sense of the story arc 🎉🎊 Before we break for the summer, we will take a look at a couple of the books of the bible that sit outside of the main story arc - this week, we will be looking at the book of Esther.

Wednesday, 10-11:30am, in the parlour at Westfield United Church. Everyone is welcome; no prior bible study experience is necessary!

(We promise - this comic is very funny if you know the story of Esther!)

A bit of wisdom from the Purr.in.ink kitty. We all make mistakes from time to time; we all mess up on occasion; no one is 100% perfect 100% of the time (and if you are, please let us in on your secret!).

But God is a God of new beginnings and fresh starts. God is a God of forgiveness and reconciliation and relationship do-overs. Sometimes it is hard to forgive ourselves for the times when we mess up, but God hasn't given up on you (and will never give up on you), so why would you give up on yourself, you beautiful and beloved child of God?

Good evening friends - our neighbours at Harmony United Church (East Saint John) received some very sad news this week. The husband of their minister (Rev. Jen Broomhead), Gord Wood, died in hospital. Please keep Jen, their daughter Amelia, the congregation of Harmony United, and everyone who loved Gord in your prayers. May his memory be a blessing.

Hearts at Harmony are saddened by the sudden passing of Rev. Jen's husband, Gord Wood. We take solace in knowing that we are not alone and that Rev. Jen, Amelia and their extended family are not alone. We are wrapped in the love and compassion of Jesus who weeps with us in our grief and will provide comfort as the days unfold. May it be so....

We give thanks for all that Gord shared with us; we will miss him greatly. We extend our love and sympathy to Rev. Jen, Amelia, their family and friends.

We welcome back to Harmony, our friend, Rev. Dr. Ian Manson to lead us in worship this coming Sunday.

See you in the sanctuary at Harmony or online at https://youtube.com/live/9g2NTl2Inio

The countdown continues - the final concert of the 2025/26 season is coming up next Thursday, June 4, at 7pm. The Westfield United Church Choir has worked very hard this year, putting together a 4-concert series, and you can hear their hard work paying off in their voices, in their timing, and in their harmonies.

This is going to be a concert of Gospel Music. The title of the concert, "Hold Me, Rock Me" is the title of one of the songs the choir will be singing - one that they have been working on for a couple of years now, but haven't yet sung in public.

The concert starts at 7pm (but come early if you want to get a good seat!), and tickets are $30 at the door (or if you are a series subscriber, just show your subscription ticket at the door).

You aren't going to want to miss this concert as we close the year with a bang. Invite your friends, invite your neighbours, invite your family members, heck, invite the person you pass on the road when you are out walking the dog. You will all be in for a treat with the music that will be presented!

This coming Sunday is Trinity Sunday - a day when it is very easy to proclaim heresy from the pulpit as it is very difficult to talk about the mysteries of God using human language.

But for a smile, here is silly video about St. Patrick trying to explain the Trinity using a three-leaf clover and other analogies to some argumentative leprechauns. https://youtu.be/KQLfgaUoQCw?si=6Ne-75idMuZoLIHQ

(Please note that the word "satire" is in the name of the video creator. This is intended to be funny!)

The problem with using analogies to explain the Holy Trinity is that you always end up confessing some ancient heresy.Let the patron saint of the Irish show ...
