Are you carrying a weight you were never meant to bear?

This Tuesday at Celebrate Recovery, pastor Julie will be sharing a teaching on God’s grace, forgiveness, and freedom through Principle 6 and Step 9. This lesson has deeply impacted her own life, teaching her that recovery isn’t sustained by her strength…it’s sustained by God’s grace. If you’re carrying guilt, shame, resentment, fear, or simply need hope, this message is for you. ❤️ Everyone is welcome…come experience the freedom that happens when we finally lay it all down. 🙌✨

?What is codependency?

Do you constantly feel responsible for fixing, rescuing, helping, or holding everything together?

Many people discover that underneath unhealthy patterns, broken relationships, and even addiction struggles, there is often a deeper issue of codependency driving it all.

Join pastors Julie and Lynsey as we talk honestly about what codependency is, how it shapes our lives and relationships, and how God leads us into freedom, healthy identity, and surrender.

✨FORGIVENESS✨
One of the hardest parts of recovery… and one of the most freeing.

So many of us carry wounds, resentment, shame, regret, bitterness, or guilt for years. Sometimes we hold onto pain because it feels safer than letting go. Sometimes forgiveness feels impossible because the hurt was real.

But recovery teaches us that unforgiveness keeps us chained to the very pain God wants to heal.

Celebrate Recovery Lesson 17 focuses on Principle 6:

“Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I’ve done to others, except when doing so would harm them or others.”

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” — Matthew 5:7
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9

Step 8:
“We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.”

Step 9:
“We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.”

Forgiveness does NOT mean:
• pretending it didn’t hurt
• excusing abuse or dysfunction
• removing healthy boundaries
• instantly trusting someone again

Forgiveness means surrendering our right to revenge and allowing God to heal what bitterness cannot.

And sometimes the hardest person to forgive… is ourselves.

This lesson is about freedom.
Freedom from resentment.
Freedom from shame.
Freedom from carrying yesterday into every part of today.

Recovery happens when we stop drinking the poison of unforgiveness and start trusting God with justice, healing, and restoration.

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” — John 8:32

❓What if the things you’ve learned to live with were never things God intended you to❓

The shame.
The coping.
The voices that say: “This is just who I am.” “I’ll always struggle.” “I’m not enough.”

Step 1 and Principle 1 remind us that recovery starts with honesty — admitting we’re powerless and realizing we’re not God.

And the beautiful part is that God is gracious, and is ok that we are in process.

We do need to confront what we are believing about ourselves, others and God! We don’t have to keep agreeing with what’s not true anymore!

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:1

Celebrate Recovery has given me tools, truth, and safe people to walk with while God continues healing the deeper roots, and confront the lies that have kept me in bo***ge.

This Tuesday I’ll be sharing part of my story, and I hope it reminds someone that they don’t have to stay stuck in the things they thought they just had to live with.
