Good morning everyone.
"Today, June 21, is National Indigenous Peoples Day, and is marked as the Indigenous Day of Prayer in the United Church of Canada. Today we celebrate the gifts that our Indigenous neighbours bring to the world - the gifts of language and culture and values and traditions. But today we also lament - we grieve the harm that our ancestors did to the Indigenous people of Canada when we colonized this country; we grieve the harm that our ancestors in faith did through participation in the Residential Schools that our church operated; we grieve that the systems of our country today are still prejudiced against our Indigenous people.

Let us pray, using words provided by Rev. Nancy Best and Rev. Dr. Lisa Waites, two Indigenous ministers in the United Church of Canada.

Tender and loving Creator, we are all part of the delicate web of life. When one thread is plucked, the ripples are widely felt, stronger closer to the epicentre, still felt toward the outer reaches. May the uncertainties and concerns we hold close to our hearts be gentled by the love we have of you, and the support of each other.

You know the longing of our hearts for a just society for all of your beloved children. When we are cut, we bleed the same colour. When we donate blood, it provides the same life-giving sustaining gift with no knowledge of race; it does not exist in that little clear bag. We don’t understand the conflicts and hatred rampant, which aren’t new; have they always existed? We pray for people living in troubled places, for refugees needing homes and relocation, for people without safe drinking water.

Rabboni Jesus, may your teachings lead us all to speak the same language of loving you, ourselves, and our neighbours. Gentle people’s harsh feelings and opinions. Restore our gratitude and refresh our faith. Grant us dreams of unity and harmony. May your light and love encircle and envelope us all as we rest in the promise of your goodness. Living Spirit, we are all relations in your family. We give thanks for our blessings. Amen."

At our at 10am service this morning we are celebrating our graduates and Father's day.

Everyone is welcome. Whoever you are and wherever you are on lifes journey.

Bring yourself, bring family, bring a friends and a stranger too.

Father’s Day Reflection & Prayer
On this Father’s Day Sunday, we give thanks for fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, foster parents, mentors, and all who nurture others with love and care. We celebrate those who model compassion, justice, humility, and courage. We also hold space for the many different experiences this day can bring—joy, gratitude, grief, longing, and remembrance.

May all who offer guidance and love be blessed, and may we continue building a world where every child and every person is valued, cherished, and supported. Amen

From our brothers and sisters in Christ in the USA, we stand in solidarity. ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 May God the liberator, sustainer and redeemer work in the hearts of those who stir with anger and prejudice against others. May You work in the hearts of those who still hold hardness in their hearts in the form of racism and bigotry. In all of us who have more work to do to destroy the remnants of white supremacy, to reform our language to reflect our most authentic expression of love and compassion for all BIPOC persons, we pray for your guidance and humility. AMEN 🙏🏻

Thankyou to Christian Life and Growth, Worship/Affirming Committee, Rev. Linton, Joshua Rice-Sawyer and the Jammers for hosting a fabulous Affirming anniversary service!

The congregation gathered to celebrate QUC’s Affirming history this past Sunday, June 14th at the Hammond River Angling Association. We also combined this celebration with the Sunday School Wrap Up and handed out WAY TO GO! certificates to all of our Sunday School students!

Being affirming is more than celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ identities: it is about celebrating our elders who paved the way for us to be bold in expression, supporting the children who are forming their faith in Christ, empowering differently abled members to join us in community. It looks like reaching out to each other and checking in, planning services that are accessible for those with physical limitations and going the extra mile to include each other just as Jesus modelled.

Beautifully written by our Reverend Linton Worrell, “We rejoice that God's love embraces people of every age, ability,gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, culture, and
life experience. In Christ, we are invited into a community where questions are
welcomed, diversity is celebrated, and every person is treasured.”

Canadian churches, labour organizations, and civil society groups call on the Government of Canada to reject U.S. actions endangering the life of people in Cuba, and to expedite delivery of fuel with other life-sustaining aid.

Today, an ad of a public statement was published in the Hill Times calling on the Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Government of Canada to:

• Publicly oppose and work to stop a U.S. military intervention in Cuba
• Speak out forcefully against unlawful and coercive U.S. measures to withhold fuel and starve the Cuban people
• Work more determinedly with the United Nations and with other countries to deliver fuel and other life-sustaining supplies to Cuba without delay

In addition to The United Church of Canada, signatories to the Hill Times advertisement include Canadian unions, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, the Council of Canadians, KAIROS, Presbyterian World Service and Development, the Presbyterian Church in Canada, the Anglican Church of Canada, Alongside Hope, the World Association for Christian Communication, Common Frontiers, and the Americas Policy Group.

We hold in prayer the Cuban people affected by the ongoing crisis and call for peace, justice, and humanitarian support.

Friends, it is summer and a time to grow, create and bloom.

It’s often a time when we see less of each other. So.. .

Let us start a “ Wave of Kindness “ in our congregation!
How do we do that? What can we each do?

Perhaps, send a card to someone to thank them for their efforts on a committee?

Or make a phone call to say “thinking of you”, or a text to check in on a friend or loved one.

Give a small gift to someone!

Offer words of kindness and a thank you …

Let us plant these seeds and share them and see our congregation grow!"
