Starting Friday, May 8 at 7 pm
Runs for 8 consecutive Fridays in the Parish Hall
Would you value joining others in a conversation about mental health? Would you like to discover what God, Scripture, and the Church have to say in light of the experiences of mental health challenges? Sign up for The Sanctuary Course for Catholics with St. Peter’s. The subject matter feels particularly relevant in these times, and the course creates an opportunity to connect with and support one another in meaningful ways.
The Sanctuary Course for Catholics is an eight-part course for small groups designed to raise awareness and begin conversations in local parishes about mental health. Created in collaboration with Catholic mental health professionals, theologians, and clergy, it offers faith communities an opportunity to learn and to grow in their ability to support those living with mental health challenges. Topics include mental health and mental illness, stigma, recovery, accompaniment, self-care, and community.
The sessions are accompanied by compelling films that feature the stories of Catholics living with mental health challenges, along with insights from archbishops, theologians, and psychologists. The course materials are available as a PDF or as an audiobook if you prefer to listen rather than read. There is no homework, but participants are encouraged to read or listen to the sessions in advance of each meeting.
