Earlier this month, many gathered in Pennsylvania for MSC and CMML's jointly-run Missions Orientation Program (MOP). We enjoyed beautiful weather, a wonderful group of participants, enriching sessions, meaningful conversations, heartfelt fellowship, times of prayer, practical challenges, and delicious meals faithfully prepared and served by our volunteers.

We rejoice to see that the Holy Spirit continues to call and confirm workers through local churches that faithfully send, while those called continue to respond and go. We are grateful for all that God has done and for the privilege of witnessing His work among us.

We are reminded by the Lord:
"Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." (Matthew 9:38)

May we continue to ask the Lord of the harvest to raise up and send workers for His great harvest field.

Hogar Shalom Orphanage is a home for at-risk children, many of whom come from very abusive backgrounds. Here, the children find a safe and loving home where they can learn about and experience the love of God.

The orphanage has two homes – one that can house 12 girls and the houseparents, and one that can house 12 boys and the houseparents. The children receive healthy meals; go to school; receive help with their homework; participate in crafts, sports and Bible clubs; and learn to garden and raise chickens. They also learn many other skills to help prepare them for the future. Every day they have Bible study, and weekly they participate in Good News Clubs and Awana.

Pray that these children will love the Lord their God with all their heart, all their soul, and all their might, and will serve Him as they grow older.

Even setbacks are not wasted by God.

José and April Melgar had a dream of opening an orphanage in Bolivia. They were generously gifted money to purchase the land, but the legal discussions with the local council took years before they could open. But God didn't waste that time! While they were waiting, the Melgars planted a church, did prison ministry, worked with indigenous people there, and more.

"God is with me, and that is enough."

After a terrible day of ministry and being far away from family, April read Luke 14:26, “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple."

After reading that verse, she felt a strong peace that she should still be in Bolivia. It didn't matter if her life was not comfortable; God was with her, and she knew that He wanted her to stay and love the children she was serving.

Have you read about MSC's approach to Risk Management in the most recent issue of InsideMSC (Issue 20)?

Risk Management training and practice allow workers to be as safe, free, and healthy as reasonably possible so they can fulfill their Great Commission work even in difficult and dangerous places. While we do what we can to support workers in high-risk locations, we know that their circumstances are under God's control alone. Today, let's pray for safety and courage for workers in difficult locations. Let's also pray for the MSC Risk Management team to have wisdom in supporting each unique situation.

The bags are packed, but the most important preparation is prayer. As the Moldova team heads out, please join us in praying for:

Travel Safety: For smooth flights and logistics as the team travels to Eastern Europe.

Effective Outreach: That the ESL camps would be a fun and fruitful bridge to share the Gospel.

Lasting Impact: That the connections made in the week would grow into local long-term fruit.
