Temples! Did you know...?

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, whether in Canada or elsewhere, are a temple-building and temple-loving people. It has been so from the earliest days of the Church.

Whether you would wish to increase your understanding of why this is so, or simply want to enhance your appreciation of temples, you may find this short Church produced video to be of some value.

In it, scholars, ministers, people of various faiths, and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints talk about temples of old and modern temples and how both connect people with heaven.

In the summer of 2025 members of the Cranbrook Stake gathered to worship and serve in the Spokane Washington Temple. Last month many of of those same people gathered at the Cardston Alberta Temple, while others worshipped and served in the temples in Calgary Alberta and in Spokane Washington. We love the temple, and are grateful for the peace we feel when we’re there. We’re looking forward to having another temple nearby when the Lethbridge Alberta Temple is completed!

I was able to attend the temple this week with these three beautiful women, my sister Carol Ruttan, my Aunt Carma Anderson, and my mom, Katie McCue. Carma and Katie have been attending the temple for at least 70 years. When I asked them what temple worship meant to them, they said that they find spiritual power and peace when they come to the temple. At 92 and 94 years old, they still love serving and worshiping in the temple!

Scaffolding has been erected around the tower of the Lethbridge Alberta Temple, providing crews with access to the structure as exterior finishing work continues. Nearby, the temple spire is taking shape on a staging pad, where it is being assembled and finished before being lifted into place atop the tower. Across the main structure, installation of the water-resistive barrier and exterior stone cladding continues to advance. (Photo: Joseph Fischer)
