GOHOP

GOHOP An interdenominational urban monastery in Hamilton, Ontario. We are an Urban Monastery based in Hamilton Ontario.

As an interdenominational organization, we partner with local churches and ministries, acting as a resource hub to help strengthen prayer capacities. We have a core team of prayer missionaries who devote themselves primarily to the work of prayer, and we have a weekly prayer rhythm in various "prayer spaces" throughout the city's downtown. In addition, we facilitate weeks of 24/7 prayer where Christians throughout the city can join together in prayer.

Our last Barnabas Listening Prayer Learning Lab before the Summer Break will be on Tue June 2nd at 7pm.

In our first hour we will be having a Sharing Circle. Bring
a song, poem, story, scripture, reflection, or anything else you would like to share with the group. You are also welcome to just listen in.

In our second hour we will be practicing Listening Prayer in small groups. New people are always welcome!

Most weeks, someone stops by the prayer room. This is one of my most favorite things about GOHOP. People just walk through our doors and ask us to pray with them! What a holy honour to hear someone's story.

We always greet our new friends, listen to their stories, carry their burdens with them. And, we offer to pray for them and with them.

Today, two friends stopped by for prayer. The Prayer Requests in the photo are the things they carry and bring to God.

D is a regular who comes about once a month. It was great to hear answers to prayers we have been praying together for a while. It is a joy to ask about family members and to walk through life together.

L is a new friend. He came last week for the first time. He is a newcomer to Canada and is working hard to build a good life for his family here. He left the prayer room feeling lighter and more hopeful and plans to come by regularly.

Please pray the blessing of this song with us over D and L today.

We had a great time at our second annual pancake supper on May 7! We’re so grateful to everyone who came … from families with young children to retirees! Special thanks to Bethany Gospel Chapel who hosted us and to our sponsors: Renewal Construction , Tree to Table Maple Syrup, and Buddy Boy Dog Training . We are so thankful to have raised $7,400 toward our goal of $8,000.

A big thank you to everyone who came out to GOHOP’s Pancake Supper Fundraiser.

Thanks to the generous support of so many people, we have raised $7,400. We are so close to reaching our goal of $8,000. If you haven’t donated yet, it’s not too late. On Tuesday May 5th at 7pm .neudorf will be leading us through some practical tips for adding some silence into your prayer practice.
Silence is a very key ingredient to listening!

On April 23 and 30, we walked south to north from Mount Hope to Pier 4 Point, completing CrossWalk, our prayer walk across Hamilton.

We walked and watched. We sang and celebrated. We praised and paused.

We saw the city up close and personal: its beautiful and broken, its strong and small, its powerful and poor.

We stopped to sing "Peace be to these streets" at the corner of King and James. It was powerful to pray at the crossroads of our city, opposite Jackson Square, asking our Good Father to unleash shalom, thriving and flourishing in our community.

Here is part of the morning liturgy we prayed at the start of each day...

Lord God,
we walk today in love for this city.
We ask for Your peace
to rest upon Hamilton.
Bless its families,
churches,
schools,
leaders,
and neighbourhoods.
Bring healing where there is brokenness,
freedom where there is bo***ge,
hope where there is despair,
and light where there is darkness.
May Your kingdom come
and Your will be done
in this city as it is in heaven.
Amen.
