Today I reflected on Eph 4:7-15 (Equipping and Edifying): I find that teaching the Word in church today (discipleship) is difficult because of a "collective learning bias" among Christians today; for example, most prefer just quoting "feel good" verses out of context, using catchphrases with each other, relying on talking points learnt from childhood Sunday school, and repeating catchy biblical slogans from our favourite preachers. Rarely are we interested in learning anything from God's Word that may challenge our worldview or expose biblical blind spots. When was the last time a passage of Scripture resulted in a meaningful change in your thoughts towards God or caused you to repent and change your attitude or behaviour?
