May 31, 2025 - Holy Moses!
Rev. Laurie McKay

Today the children will tell the story of Moses in Adult time. And the adults will consider the bigger story and the broader themes of call, God’s character and salvation through the Red Sea. This is a big story! How will it strengthen our faith in a big God?

To prepare for this week, read: Exodus 15

Self-Care - Rev. Geoffrey

If it’s so important, why do so many of us forget to practice it when we most need to?

The International Self-Care Foundation uses seven pillars as a practical way to help us remember how to manage self-care. According to them, “Following the seven pillars of self-care leads to improved health, significant savings in healthcare costs, and enhanced productivity. Our mission is to educate and empower individuals to embrace these principles in their daily lives.” Have a look and see how you align with these seven pillars.

Healing and Reconciliation Sunday
May 24, 2026

Healing and Reconciliation Sunday was designated by the 2006 General Assembly, recognizing the need for healing and relationship building between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada.
This recognition comes with the difficult but necessary acknowledgment that The Presbyterian Church in Canada is complicit in colonial racism, especially through the church’s participation in the residential school system, which took generations of Indigenous children from their homes and families. The intergenerational trauma that the schools created continues to cause significant harm to Indigenous people today.
The work of truth, healing and reconciliation is a collective responsibility across all parts of the church and Canadian society. Congregations can observe Healing and Reconciliation Sunday in different ways.

Here are some ideas:

Read the church’s Apology for colonization and residential schools at church. Guidance for worship leaders planning to read the apology in church are online here
Mark Healing and Reconciliation Sunday in worship
Consider contributing to the Honouring the Children Fund which makes funding available for healing events, memorials, and searches of the grounds of former school sites to nations and groups impacted by residential schools run by the PCC.
Learn more about ministries with Indigenous peoples.
Learn more about the church’s commitments to healing and reconciliation.

May 24, 2026 - Still Touched by a Greater Power
Rev. Laurie - Pentecost and PCC Healing and Reconciliation Day

Pentecost - when the Holy Spirit was poured out on all flesh. What does this mean? God is doing something beyond us. God is still pouring out the Spirit of healing in our time. We are honored today to hear Indigenous teaching from W***y Anderson, and Alphonse Nepoose. We also welcome Rev. Layne Kilbreath, co-director with W***y Anderson, of the Walk as We Ministry.

We also celebrate Healing and Reconciliation Day of the PCC.
To prepare for this week, read: Acts 2:1-21

May 17, 2026 - In the end is our beginning
Rev. Clay Kuhn - Ascension Sunday
The final event of Jesus’ earthly ministry is his ascension or return to heaven. This often-overlooked event provides an important transition and glimpse into the mission and work of the church that kicks into gear on the Day of Pentecost.
To prepare for this week, read: Ephesians 1:15-23 and Acts 1:1-11

May 3, 2026 - Family Resemblance
Rev. Laurie McKay - Easter 5 - Christian Family Sunday
We are not orphans. On this Christian Family Sunday, we embrace the good news that no matter what family we have chosen, been gifted or have lost, we find a home in God’s love. We resemble Jesus when we love like Jesus.
To prepare for this week, read: Acts 17:22-31 and John 14:15-21
