Reflection: Pentecost Sunday
Date: 24th May 2025

On the glorious Feast of Pentecost, Fr. Andrew invited us to celebrate the birth of the Church and the magnificent culmination of Christ’s earthly mission. Through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, as recorded in the Acts of the Apostles, the Holy Trinity acts in perfect unity to bring us into full communion with the Divine. While our limited human intellect can never fully grasp the deep mystery of God, Fr. Andrew reminded us that this present age is the most blessed of all because we have been given the gift of the Advocate. Through the Holy Spirit, we are privileged to experience the indwelling of both the Father and the Son within our very souls, beautifully uniting heaven and earth in our daily existence. Just as the Spirit overshadowed Mary, the Holy Spirit overshadows us, conceiving the divine life within our souls so that we may look forward to sharing in God's eternity.

To truly honor this holy mystery, we are called to look prayerfully within ourselves and allow the Spirit to guide how we live and act. We cannot always explain these deep spiritual realities through logic, but we can prove them through prayerful pondering and by savoring God's presence in our lives. Fr. Andrew challenged us to take time to reflect on the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord and to actively seek their fruits in our actions. Let us step out into the world transformed by this divine flame, confidently taking up our purpose as living witnesses of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen
