West Archdeaconry was officially launched today by Bishop Metlhayotlhe Beleme who inspired everyone to play their role.in ensuring the Church of God grows. His message based on the scripture emphasised that we should Love our Neigbhour, Love ourselves and go out and make.disciples. His message was further emphasised by Dr Rathedi Deputy District Commisioner for Lobatse that like Nehemiah we must motivate people of God to work hard in rebuilding. The Newly Appointed Archdeacon of The West Canon Joseph Kgollo Tsuaneng emphasised the need for unity in order for us to grow The Church. West Archdeaconry comprises of St Paul Molepolole, St Mark.Lobatse, St Mathew Thamaga and St Mark Moshupa. Mothers Union hit the ground running as they immediately Inducted West Archdeaconry Committee for the West led by chair Ms Segopotso Keediwe of St Paul Molepolole. The event was attended by dignitaries among them Deputy Mayor of Lobatse, Diocesan Secretary and Treasuer and sister churchee UCCSA and Roman Catholic Church

14 women were ordained on May 17, 2026, at a service at the Anglican Holy Cross Cathedral in Gaborone, Botswana.

They are the first women in the Province of the Church of Central Africa to be ordained.

‘History has been made,’ said the Most Revd Albert Chama (the Archbishop of Central Africa and Bishop of Lusaka).

The Rt Revd Vicentia Kgabe, Bishop of Pretoria in the Church of Southern Africa preached at the service and said: ‘Priesthood is not a reward, or a spiritual achievement... it is an invitation into servanthood… The world often associates leadership with power, status and visibility but the Church must never forget that its saviour washed feet before he carried the cross… May you, my sisters, become shepherds after the heart of Christ.’
