🌿⛑️ Help Keep Outdoor Training Local! 🥾🏕️

We’re keen to see this TasTAFE Wilderness First Aid Course go ahead at Camp Clayton from 23–25 June.

One of the ongoing challenges on Tasmania’s North-West Coast is getting enough numbers for specialist outdoor leadership and training courses to run locally. When courses don’t fill, people often have to travel elsewhere to gain important qualifications and maintain industry standards.

At Camp Clayton, one of our core values is equipping people, so we’d love to see this opportunity supported.

Please note this course is being run and delivered by Tas TAFE, not Camp Clayton. However, for those travelling to attend, we can assist with affordable self-catering accommodation right here on site.

Whether you’re an outdoor educator, camp leader, Scout or Guide leader, Duke of Ed volunteer, youth worker, bushwalker, adventure guide, or simply someone who spends time in remote places, this is a valuable qualification to have. ⛑️🥾

For two weeks every year, local Rotary volunteers transform Camp Clayton into a space focused on one important goal… helping young people stay safe on our roads 🚗💛

RYDA is more than just a road safety program. It’s honest conversations, powerful stories, practical learning, and life-changing moments for hundreds of young people across Tasmania each year.

At Camp Clayton, we are passionate about young people, which is why we are proud to provide our site and facilities to help make programs like this possible. From large group sessions to interactive activities and demonstrations across the grounds, it is amazing to see the whole site come alive with purpose 🌿🙌

This program simply would not happen without the dedication of the many Rotarians, presenters, emergency services personnel, schools, volunteers, and organisers who give their time so generously each year. Thank you for the countless hours you invest into the next generation 👏

Last year we celebrated one of the long-term organisers stepping down after years of service. This year we simply want to celebrate the wider team behind the scenes — the people who quietly make a difference year after year.

Because investing in young people doesn’t just happen in classrooms or camps… sometimes it happens in conversations that may one day save a life ❤️

☕ Camp life runs on connection… and let’s be honest… a really good cup of coffee too 😄

Last weekend Pat (all the way from Canada 🇨🇦) was spotted enjoying one of the many coffees keeping our team, volunteers, guests, and parents fuelled through another busy camp weekend at Camp Clayton.

A little while ago we got our own coffee machine after recommendations from some of our great friends within the Christian Venues Association network — another reminder of how valuable collaboration and shared knowledge across Christian camping really is 🤝

We purchased our machine through
Re-Stox Business Supplies
and use their 🫘 Ranges Coffee beans, roasted in the Yarra Valley and specifically designed to work beautifully with the machine.

And don’t worry… if coffee isn’t your thing, the machine does a pretty amazing hot chocolate too 😍

And for our Melbourne friends… yes… it does Magics 😉☕️

Because whether you’re supervising cabins, leading activities, serving meals, or just trying to survive an early morning camp wake-up… good coffee matters.
