Yesterday afternoon we kicked off DISCOVER for ages 8-14. This four week club takes young people on a journey through some of the most important parts of the Christian faith.

Made. Rescued. Named. Fed.
..aand we might have a bit of fun while we do it. DIY mini golf anyone?

We're so grateful for our friends at Secret Harbour Anglican Church, who are always so generous to share their beautiful building.

This year a faithful group of volunteers have propagated, grown, and loaded up plants ready to be sold at local markets on Saturday mornings. What began as a plant stall now includes knitted beanies and pieces of woodwork made by other members of the church.

Over the course of the year, a wide group of volunteers have worked together to raise over $8000 for the purpose of local community & crisis relief.

But they frequently tell us that it's not just about the money.

It's the conversations and connections that take place at the same time.

Hearing people's stories. Those extra donations customers give 'just for a good cause'. The neighbours, nurseries and friends of friends who want to donate plants to be sold, thereby joining in the joy.

We're thankful for every plant, every hour given, and the extra funds to spread hope into this local community.

Since its inception, the Christian church has always baptised infants. But what that means is that for many people, they have no recollection of this gracious gift, and may even spend years without realising the significance of what Christ has done for them.

This was Penny's story.

She was baptised in Darling Point, NSW back in 1945. And just recently, 81 years later, we celebrated with Penny as she affirmed the faith of her baptism and the promises that God made to her all those years ago.

She sees her life as having a mysterious trace of God's presence. But her faith came together in a new way when she found God's people.

First an invite to an Alpha course. Then a small group. And eventually Everhope Church.

"For me, the church is a family. It really is."

There was a joyful buzz in the air as we installed Jacob Fenwick onto our Key Leadership Team as an Elder of Everhope Church. 🙏

Jacob is the husband of Jesse, a father of two, and runs his own plumbing business throughout the week. He's completing a Diploma of Ministry, and has been recognised by our church community for his devotion to God's word and his love for God's people.

The Key Leadership Team is the group of elders and deacons led by the pastor who are called to provide spiritual oversight to the congregation. Jacob (elder) joins Matt Schubert (pastor) and Robyn Phillips (deacon) to bring this team to three.

Join us in praising God, and encouraging Jacob in this new responsibility.

We'll be kicking off a new marathon series through the book of Hebrews this Sunday, hearing the call to fix our eyes on Jesus. We're also very excited to install Jacob Fenwick onto our Key Leadership Team, so please join us to pray for and celebrate all that God is doing.

New to church? This Sunday is a great opportunity to rock up. Stuff will be explained to you and you're welcome to participate in as much or as little as you like.

One of the great challenges of the Christian life is connecting what happens on Sunday with what happens Monday to Saturday.

We hear the Bible, we sing, we pray, we’re encouraged — and then Monday comes, and the tide starts pulling us in the opposite direction. The emails arrive, the kids need shoes, the week fills up, and before long our faith can feel disconnected from ordinary life.

That’s why Clusters matter.

Clusters are where what we hear on Sunday starts to work its way into the everyday stuff of life. You read the Bible with others. You pray with people who actually know what’s going on. Together, you identify what God is up to in each other’s lives. And you build friendships where you can be honest, encouraged, and challenged.

That’s why we’d love every person who calls Everhope home to be part of a Cluster this season.

It's not too late to sign up for this next season, but it nearly is! There are 12 groups to choose from, across different days and times. Head to everhope.com.au/clusters to check out the options.

"When we moved to Australia, Mark’s brother was part of Everhope, so we were invited to come along to a church camping weekend. That’s where I first met Matt and quite a few others from the church.

The whole time, Mark kept reminding me not to say anything against God!

After that trip, I went back to normal life. Mark started getting more involved in church, and the boys started tagging along too. During that time, Mark and I had many heated discussions about faith. He would share all this information with me, but I was stubborn. I wouldn’t budge. I was adamant that I was right.

Then one afternoon, Mark and I made a bet.

If I won ten shots in the basketball hoop, he would have to watch a film of my choice with no complaints. But if he won, I would have to go to church with him the next day.

Normally, I would win.

But this time, Mark did.

So I conceded, and off to church I went.

I came with an open mind, but I didn’t believe it would make any difference. I thought it would be one and done. But I was wrong. At first, it wasn’t some miraculous belief in God that brought me back week after week. It was the people. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming that I found myself wanting to be around them.

Then Matt asked if I wanted to meet up and talk.

I bet he regretted that decision, because for the next few months it was question after question after question! Especially when Tara and I came together — we were both as bad as each other with all our questions.

It didn’t fully click that I was a believer until one phone conversation with Matt. This time, he was the one asking me questions.

'Do you believe Jesus existed?'

Yes.

'Do you believe he was crucified for your sins?'

Yes.

'Do you believe he rose from the dead?'

Yes.

Every question he asked, my answer was yes.

Then Matt said, 'Jayne, it sounds like you are a Christian.'

I think I was the most shocked out of everybody."

It was heart warming (and hilarious) to hear Jayne share this past Sunday about her journey of coming to faith. Jayne affirmed her baptism on the 14th December 2025 and her whole family are now a much loved part of the Everhope Church family.

Once a year, we hear three members of our church family share their story of life & faith in God. The stories vary, but the result is always the same: we leave in awe of God, and with an increased love for one another.

Even if you're not a church person, you're welcome to join us this Sunday.

What's better than a baptism? Three baptisms. What a delight to celebrate with the Yeomans family on Sunday morning. 🫶

Baptism is a gift. A gift of what, we might ask? And surely we could list off the forgiveness of sins, new life, adoption into God's family, and so on, but truly these are just by-products.

Primarily the gift we receive in baptism is God himself.

Romans 6 records that in our baptism we are united once and for all time to Christ himself, his death, his resurrection, and his future too -- so for endless ages we will be found where he is.

Safe. Secure. Loved.
