Learn how to turn one plant into many at our free, hands-on workshop with Darren Martin from Botanic Gardens of Sydney’s Community Greening team.

Darren will show us how to choose, prepare and plant cuttings, and help them develop roots. No gardening experience needed. Come along, get your hands dirty and enjoy some good company.

We know not everyone was able to be with us for the launch of the Rivergum Community Pantry, so here's three minutes of what you missed. 💚
Music in the garden. Friends and neighbours gathered together. Food and conversation. And, finally, a long line of people carrying something to put on the pantry shelves.
It was a pretty lovely morning to be Revesby Uniting.
Thank you to Ian for capturing it so beautifully. And profound gratitude to everyone who helped make the day, and the pantry itself, possible.

We had such a lovely morning at Rivergum Community Garden last week, with Aunty Lee Carr leading us in a mindful weaving workshop.

We gathered lomandra growing near our new community pantry, then Aunty Lee showed us how to weave it into our own bracelets.

But perhaps the most special part of the morning was simply having the chance to sit together.

There was plenty of weaving, but also plenty of talking, laughing and getting to know people we might not otherwise have met.

Thank you to Aunty Lee for sharing her knowledge with us, to Aunty Carol for joining us, and to everyone who came along and made the morning what it was. 💚

A two-tiered aged care system should not be the direction our country takes.

Every elderly Australian deserves care they can count on. Aged care providers need to be held accountable to providing quality care to every resident in their facilities.

$3,200 a year for free-to-air television in your bedroom?

$66 for one hour a month for a carer to sit with you and “talk about whatever’s on your mind”?

$220 to attend a music concert inside the nursing home where you live?

These are among the proposed Higher Everyday Living Fees reported by ABC Investigations at a Uniting NSW.ACT aged-care home.

At Revesby Uniting, we believe this raises an important question: where should we draw the line between a genuine optional extra and the ordinary things that enable someone in residential aged care to live with dignity, connection and belonging?

We recognise that genuinely additional or premium services can cost extra. But we don’t believe an older person’s ability to pay should determine their access to ordinary comfort, companionship, recreation and participation in the community in which they live.

So members of our church have started a petition asking Uniting NSW.ACT to reconsider these proposals and guarantee that residents who cannot afford additional fees are not excluded from ordinary community life.

The question isn’t simply what can be charged for. It’s what should be charged for.

This is the perfect reflection to catch up on as we approach the launch of our Rivergum Community Pantry on Sunday 25th October.

Walter Bruegemann says, "Creation is infused with the Creator's generosity and our job is to find practices that allow that generosity to work." Corbin recently explored a story that asks, "What happens when God's generosity doesn't fit our calculations of fairness?"
