Happy Good Sammy Day!! ๐Ÿ’›
Congratulations to Good Sammy Enterprises on 68 years of creating employment opportunities for people with disability in Western Australia.
Across the city and surrounds tonight, 7 September, landmarks including Elizabeth Quay, Matagarup Bridge and the Perth Bell Tower will light up in yellow to mark the occassion.

โ€œGood Sammy Day celebrates possibility: the dignity of work, the value of inclusion, and the role every Western Australian can play in opening doors for people with disability. When Perth lights up yellow, it is a powerful thank you to the employees, supporters, donors, customers and partners who have helped build a more inclusive and sustainable WA over 68 years,โ€ said Good Sammy CEO Kane Blackman.

The agency have also launched their inaugural Good Sammy Day Birthday Appeal, inviting people to donate funds, visit their favourite Good Sammy Shops or donate quality pre-loved goods to support their mission.

We will gather together at 6.30pm in worship, community and song to mark this special milestone in the life of our church.
During this opening service we will also celebrate ministry ordination milestones and honour ministers who have died since we last met as a Synod.
The service will be led by our Moderator Rev David Jackson, with Dr Ali Robinson as guest preacher.
All are welcome!

'The times may have changed, but the heart of Godโ€™s mission remains constant.'

On Sunday 30 August many Uniting Church congregations across the country gave thanks for the work of Frontier Services, reflecting on the theme 'Changing Times'.
The Kalamunda and St Martinโ€™s Foothills Uniting Church congregations joined together in a combined service to celebrate Frontier Services Sunday in their worship service, followed by a fundraising โ€˜Outback BBQโ€™.
Uniting Church WA Moderator Rev David Jackson was invited to attend, sharing the sermon and leading communion. With his previous roles as Frontier Services Bush Chaplain in the Mid West and the Pilbara, he was able to share with the congregation from his personal experiences, and experiences of other bush chaplains he has worked alongside.

As we hear of the devastating floods in Nepal, we pause in sorrow and solidarity with all those affected. In the face of lives lost, families separated and communities facing profound uncertainty, we turn to God in prayer. We pray for those who grieve, those still waiting for news, and all who are working to bring rescue, care and hope.

God of compassion and mercy,

We hold before you the people of Nepal following the devastating flash floods in the Bhote Koshi River area.

We grieve with those who have lost loved ones. We pray for the many who are still missing, local people and visitors alike, for families waiting anxiously for news, for those who have been injured or displaced, and for communities facing such immense loss.

Draw near, O God.

Where there is grief, bring comfort.
Where there is fear, bring courage.
Where there is exhaustion, bring strength.
And in these difficult hours of searching and waiting, sustain hope.

We pray for all involved in search and rescue, evacuation, medical care and relief. Protect and strengthen them. Give wisdom to those coordinating the response, and may help reach those who need it most.

Jesus Christ, you entered into the suffering of our world and showed us a love that draws near. Draw near now to the people of Nepal in their suffering.

By your Spirit, weave together communities of care and compassion. Strengthen neighbours supporting one another, families holding one another close, and all who are offering shelter, comfort and hope.

God of life, we entrust to your mercy all who have died. Hold those who mourn. Be near to those still waiting for news. Strengthen all whose lives and livelihoods have been devastated by this disaster, and sustain them through the long journey of recovery.

Hold the people of Nepal in your love โ€”
the love of the crucified and risen Christ,
a love that crosses every boundary,
a love that will not let us go.

Amen.
