𝑰𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒂𝒉 1:19 - “𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒆 𝒃𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒃𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝒚𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅:”

Listening to GOD’s instructions is very important in the life of every believer. GOD speaks through HIS Word, through prayer, through the preaching of the Gospel, and through the leading of the Holy Spirit. Blessings, protection, direction, and spiritual growth come when we obey GOD wholeheartedly.

1. 𝐆𝐎𝐃 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐄 𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐎 𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐍.

John 10:27 - “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”

A true child of GOD recognizes the voice of the LORD. When GOD speaks, we should not harden our hearts.

Hebrews 3:15 - “While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.”

GOD still speaks today.
We must be spiritually sensitive.
A stubborn heart blocks GOD’s instructions.

2. 𝐎𝐁𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍 𝐒𝐀𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐄.

1 Samuel 15:22 - “And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”

King Saul lost favor because he partially obeyed GOD. Partial obedience is still disobedience.

GOD desires obedience more than religious activity.
We cannot choose which commands to follow.
True love for GOD is shown through obedience.

John 14:15 - “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

3. 𝐆𝐎𝐃’𝐒 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐆𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐃𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Without GOD’s direction, people become confused and lost. GOD knows the future and gives the right path.

Psalms 32:8 - “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”

GOD’s instruction prevents wrong decisions.
HIS Word is our guide.
We must trust GOD even when we do not understand everything.

4. 𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐁𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒

Jonah 1:1–3 “Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord...”

Jonah heard GOD’s instruction but ran away. Because of disobedience, he faced storms and troubles.

Running from GOD’s instruction brings problems.
GOD corrects those whom HE loves.
It is always better to obey immediately.

Hebrews 12:6 “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”

5. 𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐉𝐄𝐒𝐔𝐒 𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐅𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐄𝐗𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐎𝐁𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄.

Philippians 2:8 - “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

As followers of CHRIST, we must also walk in obedience.

Obedience requires humility and surrender.
GOD honors those who obey HIM faithfully.
Our obedience can become a testimony to others.

𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗪𝗘 𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗚𝗢𝗗’𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦?

1. 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙂𝙊𝘿 𝘿𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙮
Psalms 119:105 - “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

2. 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙚𝙚𝙠 𝙂𝙊𝘿 𝙎𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙮
Jeremiah 33:3 - “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

3. 𝘽𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙃𝙊𝙇𝙔 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗧
Romans 8:14 -“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

4. 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙃𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩
James 1:22 - “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍:
Listening to GOD’s instructions is not optional for a believer. It is the pathway to blessing, protection, wisdom, and spiritual maturity. GOD does not speak to confuse us but to guide us into HIS perfect will.

May we always have a heart that says:

1 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥 3:10 - “𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬, 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥, 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝, 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤; 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐡.”

𝐓𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐂: 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍. - Sis. Arlyn Eiy

“𝑺𝒐 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐 𝒊𝒕, 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒊𝒏.” — 𝑱𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔 4:17

As Christians, we often think of sin as the wrong things we do lying, stealing, hatred, or disobedience. These are called sins of commission: actions that go against God’s commands.

But the Bible also speaks about sins of omission failing to do the good God calls us to do.

- Seeing someone in need and refusing to help
- Staying silent when the truth should be spoken
- Neglecting prayer, forgiveness, or compassion

LORD JESUS taught that obedience is not only avoiding evil, but also actively doing good. In Matthew 25, people were judged not for harmful acts alone, but for what they failed to do for others.

𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐢𝐧:
Commission → Doing what God forbids
Omission → Neglecting what God commands

GOD calls us to more than avoid wrongdoing. He calls us to love, serve, forgive, pray, encourage, and act with compassion.

To GOD be all the Glory!
