ONLY GOD APPROVES

1 Thessalonians 2[4] For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.

By saying "we" Paul was acknowledging Silas and Timothy his co-authors (1 Thess 1[2]) as well as fellow ministers approved by God. It was more than them (Paul, Silas, and Timothy) who were approved by God, the 11 Apostles, Barnabas, Titus, Philemon etc. Paul didn't see himself as the only ministers approaved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Even when he was writing to the Corinthian church, he acknowledged Apollos as a fellow minister with whom he laboured with in God's vineyard: 1 Corinthians 3[6] I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. There are various ministers with distinct ministries which all for the common goal of building up the church and expanding God's Kingdom. Despite the distinctive gifts we remain interdependent on each other, one will plant, another will water and God will give the increase.

No one can do everything, each member of the church has a role to play and it is the role of leaders to help congregates identify their area of giftedness so that they can serve well. Therefore, anyone who claims to be the only one approved by God is prideful, and in error. Being a leader doesn't make you the only one approaved within the congregation, you might not like it but God might using those congregates in a manner beyond your imagination. Hence, anyone who claims to be the only one approved is reading a different Bible. At some point, Paul encouraged Timothy to be deligent to present himself approved to God - 2 Timothy 2[15]. The pastor, prophet or apostle is not the one who approves, God does the approving. God is not like men who can be easily deceived with pretentious deeds or words, He weighs our hearts and intentions, which are an open book to Him.

Praise God! We’ve successfully completed the slab for our church building.

What you see here is more than concrete and steel — it is the MISSION CENTRE, a centre for worship, discipleship, fellowship, and outreach in Budiriro and the world. A place where lives will be transformed and hope restored.

Thank you to every member, partner, and worker who has prayed, given, and labored to bring us this far. This is only the beginning, we are moving on into another exciting 😀 phase. With God on our side, we are unstoppable 🤞.

GOD IS WITH YOU

Genesis 39[21] the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.

At this point, the story of Joseph was right in its climax, he had been sold into slavery by his brothers, falsely accused by Potiphar's wife and imprisoned. From a general perspective looking at this story humanly, one can easily conclude that, Joseph was doomed and his life's trajectory was headed for a disaster. One could possibly think that Potiphar's household where he was managing was his best days but God had other plans. Hence, the Scripture fully starting the Lord was with him and He even granted him favour even in prison. Sometimes where we are in an uncomfortable phase of life, we often miss God's flavour or grace operating in our lifes and sustaining us through a difficult period. We often focus on the difficult situation and focus how God is carrying through the difficult time.

Remember Paul prayed three times for God to remove a thorn in his flesh yet refusing to see God's sufficient grace sustaining him despite the thorn. Sometimes we need to pause, take account and praise God for how He has been and is gracious to us despite the uncomfortable situations we are enduring especially in Zimbabwe where the odds are not soft on a regular persons seeking to make honest livelihood. Joseph had series of bad episodes in his life yet God was with him and working to fulfill His play for him. The had circumstances he went through were used by God as means and way to lead him to the plan God had for Him as Joseph himself testified to his brothers when they were finally united. One key lesson of the day, it can be unnoticeable, especially in uncomfortable circumstances, but God’s hand and favour can be on you.

JESUS IS GOD

Colossians 1[16] For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things have been created through Him and for Him.

Paul wrote this letter to defend the pre-eminence of Christ because it was being challenged by heretics - Colossians 1[18]. They were refuting the supremacy of Jesus, hence, attempting to reduce him to merely an angel or creature created by God. They had also infused the worship of angels in their teachings hence reducing Jesus to be one: Colossians 2[18] Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on pious self-denial or the worship of angels, saying they have had visions about these things. Their sinful minds have made them proud. Paul goes on to list various categories of angels, thrones, dominions, principalities or powers and attributed them all to be created by Christ proving His preeminency.

As Paul polishes up his point, it is important to note that, everything exists in Christ, for Christ and through Christ: Romans 11[36] For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen. In verse [16], Paul presents Christ as the Creator of everything in the heavens and on earth. Genesis 1[1] presents God as the Creator of the heavens and the earth which therefore implies that, Christ is God, He created everything. There are some who argue that Jesus was created to create and that line of argument is weak and doesn't make any sense for God to create a Creator, He could simply create everything Himself, why make have simply created everything by Himself without complicating things of creating a creator. Hence, Jesus is the creator of all things both in heaven and on earth and this makes Him GOD.
