Zip brought a powerful word to One City Church on Sunday from Matthew 9:1–17, reminding us that Jesus has authority to forgive sin and calls sinners to himself—not merely to heal what is broken, but to forgive our sin and make us new.

This morning’s Gather was like a warm hug on a cold day!

It was such a sweet joy to welcome in our One City ladies for a beautiful morning of fun, fellowship, friendship and a really great message on hospitality.

Thank you so much to Rachel Tucker who gently challenged us to ask ourselves: Who is God asking you to make room for?

"Hospitality is a reflection of the heart of God".

Rachel’s encouragement was to stop waiting for the perfect home, moment, opportunity or circumstances, but rather open your doors and hearts as you are.

"Circumstances might not necessarily change, but someone might leave feeling: I’ve been heard; I’ve been seen; I’ve been loved; I’ve been carried to God through prayer and perhaps in some small way, they’ve experienced the welcome of God by you making room for them”.

“Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace” 1 Peter 4:9-10

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household” Ephesians 2:19

"Will you trust him? Will you ask him to leave?"

"Because everyone who meets Jesus leaves changed, but not everyone leaves Jesus transformed. The difference is whether you welcome him, the King, as the King, or you reject the King. Jesus can calm your storm, or he can calm your heart so that you can go through the storm."

"It’s about a King who touches the untouchable; It’s about a King who restores the broken; It’s about a King who bears the curse that none of us could carry."

"The King who stretched out his hand to touch the l***r would soon stretch his hands out on the cross of Calvary. And it is there that he would bear not merely disease, but the full weight of our sin. He would bear our shame, and judgement that we deserved. That my friends is the gospel."

What a great morning we had at One City with an amazing exposition of Matthew 8:1-17 from our good friend, pastor Greg Cassim from Hope Church!

We also saw 27 deacons being set into office, accepting the call to practically serve the church and come alongside our elders as they focus on preaching the word and pastoring the church.

We pray for love and unity for our leadership team as they serve Jesus and His church with humble hearts.

We had a really special Gather morning today with the theme of living a life of worship.

Thank you especially to Hannah Visagie who shared deeply with us today.

"How are we going to live lives of worship? We're going to remember who we were, we're going to remember his sacrifice, and we're going to remember where we're going. We're going to worship because we're lost and have been found, because Christ died and rose again, and because a day is coming when faith will become sight, and we will see our saviour again".

"If we can remind outselves of those things, our natural inclination, our natural heart, will be to worship Jesus".
