A Joyous Day of Celebration and New Beginnings

On Sunday, 19 July 2026, the Archdeacon of King William's Town East, the Venerable Siphokazi Antoni, visited our parish to officially license Rev. Z.A. Mpunzi as the Priest-in-Charge of The Holy Name and St Barnabas.

The congregations of both parishes gathered at The Holy Name to witness this special and historic occasion. It was a truly uplifting and Spirit-filled service.

Archdeacon Antoni's sermon touched every heart. Her message was inspiring, filled with wisdom, hope, and encouragement, leaving the congregation smiling, amazed, and strengthened in faith.

We give thanks to God for blessing His Church with a gifted preacher and faithful servant. Thank you, Mabhanqo, for bringing us hope and reminding us that God is leading our parishes into a bright future.

Congratulations to Rev. Z.A. Mpunzi on your licensing. We look forward to journeying together with you as we continue God's work in The Holy Name and St Barnabas.

A Joyous Milestone for Our Parish Family

Yesterday, 12 July 2026, our son, Rev. Siyabulela Tembani, was licensed as the Assistant Priest at St Andrew's Parish, Ginsberg.

We had the privilege of accompanying this proud product of our parish and our community as he was warmly welcomed into his new spiritual home. It was a beautiful and uplifting service, filled with joy, hope, and thanksgiving.

In his sermon, the Archdeacon to the Ordinary, Rev. B. T. M. Mfenyana, reflected on the meaning of Rev. Tembani's name, Siyabulela, which means "We thank you." He shared that his parents gave him this meaningful name, and encouraged Rev. Tembani to serve faithfully so that wherever he ministers, the people of God will always be able to say, "Siyabulela"—"We thank God for this priest." It was a powerful message that reminded us of the calling to serve with humility, dedication, and love.

The ATO warmly welcomed Rev. Tembani to St Andrew's Parish and offered him words of wisdom, encouragement, and blessings as he begins this new chapter of his ministry.

As the congregation of The Holy Name Parish, Stutterheim, we acknowledged that while we are saddened to lose such a wonderful priest, we were honoured to be present and support him as he embarks on this new journey. We wanted him to know that he leaves with our love, our prayers, and our unwavering support. Congratulations, Rev. Siyabulela Tembani. May God continue to guide, strengthen, and bless your ministry as you faithfully serve His people.

At Holy Name Parish, we continue to live out the values of love, unity, and support.

Although Father's Day fell on 21 June, our St. Bernard Mizeki members were attending the Archdeaconry Commemoration, and on 28 June they attended the Diocesan Commemoration of St. Bernard Mizeki. Because of these commitments, we could not celebrate our fathers on the day.

Today, our Mother's Union reminded us that appreciation knows no deadline. They lovingly surprised all the fathers in our parish with a beautiful cake as a token of gratitude. The Anglican Women's Fellowship (AWF) then added to the celebration by saying, "The cake is for dessert—we will provide a meal for the congregation!"

What a beautiful example of Christian love, fellowship, and caring for one another. We sincerely thank the Mother's Union and the AWF for their thoughtful and generous gestures.

Most importantly, we celebrate and appreciate all the fathers of Holy Name Parish. Your dedication, leadership, prayers, and service to God's Church do not go unnoticed. May God continue to bless and strengthen each one of you.

It was a heartwarming reunion at the 2nd Diocesan Strategic Planning Workshop when our Parish Church Warden, Mrs. Ngxingolo, had the joy of meeting our former Rector, Rev. Mnukiso, who faithfully served The Holy Name Parish for 10 years.

As humble and down-to-earth as ever, Rev. Mnukiso greeted everyone with the same warm spirit, gentle smile, and his unforgettable soft laughter that we have all come to know and love.

The Holy Name Parish is incredibly proud to have been part of Rev. Mnukiso's journey from the early years of his priestly ministry. Watching him grow into the leader he is today has been a true blessing.

Today, he faithfully serves as the Rector of Holy Cross Parish, Mdantsane, and as the Archdeacon of the area. We thank God for His continued guidance over your ministry and celebrate all that you have achieved.

The reunion also brought back many fond memories. During Rev. Mnukiso's time as our Rector, the Mothers' Union affectionately elected Mrs. Ngxingolo to serve as the "Priest's Wife" during parish activities and events. So, as everyone joked, Rev. Mnukiso had the opportunity to reunite with his "former wife"! It was a wonderful moment filled with laughter, nostalgia, and cherished memories of the beautiful fellowship we shared as a parish family. We are so proud of you, Ncuthu! May God continue to bless, strengthen, and lead you as you faithfully shepherd His people.

Our Priest in Charge at the 2nd Diocesan Strategic Planning Workshop

We are delighted to share these moments of our Priest in Charge, Rev. Zweledinga Mpunzi, who attended the 2nd Diocesan Strategic Planning Workshop for all clergy and church wardens of the Diocese of Grahamstown.

Rev. Mpunzi is known for his vibrant personality, his passion for engaging with people, and his willingness to participate in meaningful discussions. He is never afraid to share ideas, ask thought-provoking questions, and contribute positively to conversations that shape the future of the Church. His enthusiasm, warm spirit, and love for fellowship make him a valued voice wherever he serves.

As The Holy Name Anglican Church, we are grateful to have a priest who is committed to learning, growing, and working collaboratively with fellow clergy and church leaders for the advancement of God's Kingdom.

May God continue to bless Rev. Mpunzi with wisdom, strength, and grace as he faithfully leads His people.
