Breaking Barriers is CRC’s outreach and awareness initiative for special needs families across Pretoria, Bloemfontein, and Johannesburg. It exists to say: you are not alone, you are not forgotten, and you belong here. 💙💙💙

"I spent almost 20 years ignoring the nudge of Holy Spirit.

It’s a bold thing to admit, but it’s the truth of my journey. On Sunday evening, 19 November 2006, I responded to an altar call led by Pastor At and gave my life to God. That same evening, Uncle Syd prayed for me, and I received the gift of speaking in tongues. I remember leaving that service overwhelmed by God’s presence and love.

But then... life happened.

Even though I felt the Holy Spirit nudging me, I didn’t commit to serving. I stayed on the sidelines. I got married. I had one child, then two, then three. My job became more demanding with every passing year. My excuses felt valid, and honestly, they could have lasted forever.

The Turning Point: 2024 📍

One Sunday morning at 6:30am, I arrived at church determined to start serving in Kids Church. I was nervous. I didn’t even know where to report or what to expect.

If you do the math... that’s nearly 20 years of hesitation.

What happened next? That simple act of obedience changed my life. Since stepping into that Kids Church classroom:
God has multiplied my time in ways I can't explain.
I’ve experienced physical and mental healing.
He placed a deep, genuine love for people in my heart.
What I once saw as a "sacrifice" became a source of growth, joy, and transformation.

For everything God has done for me, serving feels like the least I can do for His Kingdom.

We all have the same amount of time, and there is never a “less busy” season coming. The best time to serve is NOW.
