“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses…” Acts 1:8 (ESV)

Today we remember and commemorate the Ascension of Jesus Christ — the day Jesus ascended into heaven before His disciples. The ascension took place 40 days after Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, following His victory over sin and death at Easter.

In Acts 1, we read how Jesus spent time teaching, encouraging, and preparing His disciples before He was taken up into heaven. As they watched Him ascend, they were reminded that His saving work was not yet finished — it was only beginning through the power of the Holy Spirit and the mission of the Church.

The ascension is deeply significant for us as believers. It reminds us that Jesus is alive, reigning, and seated at the right hand of the Father. He did not abandon His people, but continues to intercede for us and lead His Church. His ascension also gives us hope, because the same Jesus who ascended will one day return again in glory and power.

As we reflect on Ascension Day, may we be encouraged to live with faith, purpose, and expectation. Jesus calls us to continue His work here on earth — to love people, share the Gospel, and walk in the Spirit.

May our hearts be lifted heavenward today as we remember our risen and ascended King.
